Stoner/ Doom Metal Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Maybe it's a sin to admit this out loud, but I'm not digging the new 12 incher by Sleep. I hope this isn't the best off the new album or I really will fall asleep.

Iommic life incomplete?

Guys! Goya 777 is up, get it while you can $15 shipped! http://marijuana.bigcartel.com/

Checked their facebook right before I went to bed and it wasn't up yet. Must've been updated while I was sleeping. Close call on that one. Paid twice as much for the shipping as the record itself but a tenner is a bargain in my eyes, anyway. Looking forward to this. Just noticed how elaborate the artwork is, looks awesome.

Also, anyone so inclined, it's the last four days to back that Hendrix tribute release by Magnetic Eye

And, not in the stoner section but more on the hardcore side. The vocals on this remind me of Cough though. Worth checking out. Available on some sick looking wax, nonetheless.

Bloop blorp. Went ahead and got an extra copy of Goya. If these sell out and anyone missed out on it, message me and I'll sell it to you for cost plus shipping. Otherwise I'll probably flip it in a couple months to buy more doom records. <3

I was thinking about buying another copy for good old trade bait. People who slept on this are going to be bummed. The only thing that is making me hesitate is that they will probably come out with some crazy colored repress after this sells out.

Well, it's finally raining over her in Oakland. Nothing like listening to some classic Tom Waits on a rainy day! Giving my doom ears a rest for a few minutes.

Tom waits: the doomiest non doom metal artist out there.

Ah. That's probably true. I'm just hoping to be able to trade it plus some money for one of the screened cover ones. I loooove that cover.

Here's a bratty piece of self-promotion. My band Spider Kitten just released our new album Behold Mountain, Hail Sea, Venerate Sky, Bow Before Tree. It's our exploration of Norse sagas and is pretty fucking heavy if I say so myself. It's streaming on bandcamp here > https://spiderkitten.bandcamp.com/ BUT we will have a vinyl release soon.*

Section from a recent review from The Sludgelord:

Spider Kitten are a dramatic band. They leave a lasting impression upon you. And, to briefly extend upon that metaphor further, this is a beating that you can’t help but crave a recurrence of the following night. It hurts, but you won’t forget it. Add to that the fact they sound like the creepy, lingering memory of a recent nightmare and it’s stupefying that this band is actually Welsh. With the music on offer here, it would be so easy to believe that these guys are indeed battle hardened Vikings who grew up living a savage and barbaric life, feeding off the fat of the land on savage, Norwegian plains.

* Our previous album Cougar Club is also available to stream but you can get the vinyl straight from http://www.ampullae-audio.com/product/spider-kitten-cougar-club.

I like it, but man, those import prices always make me cry.
