Stoner/ Doom Metal Discussion Thread

I got to see The Well and All Them Witches last night and both were awesome. I asked some dude in the merch area if the Well record was on colored vinyl and he told me he didn't know. Turns out it was the singer for ATW and we had a cool conversation about music. Tonight The Well is playing in Oakland. If you're in the Bay go see them at Nightlight. The bassist said she'd put me on the list, but I'm dead tired. Argh!

Dang that's a great gig right there. Very jealous.

Came here to post this actually. All you doomsters jump on this punishing duo from Denver, Colorado that go by the name of In The Company Of Serpents. Their first outing was mastered by Billy Anderson and is still available on some really sick looking wax. Dudes seem to put a lot of care into the package. They also have a grinder for sale. Denver, no less

Here's a track off their upcoming EP

*Edit - forgot to link to their bandcamp page, just in case

Also, damn. Wounded Giant is sick. Can't wait for that split of theirs with Goya.

Nice call on In The Company Of Serpents. Been diggin' that band for awhile now, but others need to check them out.

Also, here's some sick proto-metal(ish) from Texas. Think a combination between Fuzz and The Well but mostly a slower pace. I have a hunch that they're about to blow up. CVLT Nation just posted them up on a list of acts to watch out for so that's that.

Dudes seem to be have been struggling with putting this out on vinyl but it might happen sometime soon.

And another Texas group called Crypt Trip whose album will go on sale this saturday. I searched but couldn't find it posted here yet.

There's going to be a STB'ish Die Hard version in a box and some regular versions as well. Sick looking release

Before the show, I was talking with the singer of All Them Witches and he said he didn't listen to a lot of heavy music. I asked him what hell listened to and he said, "International folk music". Me being the person I am, I asked, "What are you talking about?" He mentioned Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn, and I told him how I got to see Nusrat twice. When the band called out for requests I yelled out for a Nusrat song. It was mentioned in this article. Long story longer. http://www.sfcritic.com/2014/11/06/all-them-witches-conjur-the-ageless-musical-mystic-the-hemlock/21820

Evidently too much sake last night. Midnight rambler.

Monolord is seriously kicking ass. Just got Blood Framers in the mail today. Haven't spun it yet, but I'm sure my eardrums will be happy.

Since you really like Monolord, you should check out Slomatics. Their new album Estron is a top 10 release for me. The song "And Yet It Moves" is a top 10 song of the year for me as well. Such sick bass tone. The vinyl is long sold out, Thankfully I was able to score a copy months ago. It's highly recommended.

Yeah, that's some good stuff. Will have to be happy with the DL for now.
