Well, I finished my Caspian collection. Four years and 68 records later it's finally done. I'll be taking a family photo when the mythical EU Translucent Maroon gets in.

I would have expected more of a freak-out!

What's the story here?

\\

Spinning "Salvation" now before I head in to work... ohhhh MAN this sounds perfect. So many new details in the mix during the intro of "Echoes" are standing out, and it's just so spacious. What a great pressing.

Grats! May I make a request?  Along with the regular pornographic spread of records, could you take a photo of them on the shelves?

I can do that.

You need to take an American Beauty style photo but instead of roses it's your Caspian records.

I can definitely do that. I shit you not, I did it once. Back when I had about 30. It's more than than doubled.

I'd make a print and hang it on my wall. I'm dead serious.

I'll make a calendar, too.

I freaked out in just about ever forum possible.

TERTIA | 2xLP | EU MAROON | /150 | 2009 | MYLENE SHEATH

IT IS MINNNNNEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, the deal with the Translucent Maroon copy of Tertia is that it is incredibly rare. The run size is /150 but we (the post rock community) swears there's only ten (cause that's all that are accounted for). We all swear that the rest fell into some black hole in Europe, cause it was an exclusive to Europe back when it was first pressed in 2009. I've been after this thing for four years. I have never even seen it sold, ever. One of my friends on here (Don) saw it sell for $200 once, but I believe it was a private sale, and that was to a dude COMPLETE his Mylene Sheath collection. So this thing is my holy grail white whale. I honestly never thought I would get it. It'sa huge accomplishment for me. Finding that actually completes my Caspian collection. 4 years, countless hours, way too much money (but could have spent more - got a lot of great deals from friends on here), 68 records, lots of great stories, and I've finished it. I'm done.... until they repress stuff, and release new material. Haha.

See you are glad you got that Old South Church /50 test now, eh??

Also, so where did you get this last one from? Friend of a friend type deal??

Yes and no, since I don't really care about test presses. Haha. I might hit up TC with a friendly 'here's my collection, got any tests laying around' email, but I'm not worried about them.

All will be revealed in due time. ;)

Well now you have your new task haha.

Can't wait to hear the story!

So on a scale of 1-Gumbo, Sleepmakeswaves live is a...

HOLY FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They just absolutely SLAUGHTERED. Seriously, if they are coming ANYWHERE near any of you guys, you need to go. Wow. Imagine Caspian's stage energy times 10 with SMW's heaviness.

That is not me saying they are better than Caspian live, just a different type of "holy shit that was an unexpected destroying of my body".

I need to go see them, after all, they signed a copy of one of their records for me saying they hope to see me at a show. Haha.

Gumbo, you could live on Fluttery Records label and never leave. Too bad no vinyl.

If you like Godspeed at all, with an eerie vibe, The Seven Mile Journey are my favorite in that subgenre.

Have to listen to all releases sequentially, uninterrupted, in the dark, and some red wine. A 3+ hr journey I try to do every 4 to 6 months, which is about how often I get to be alone haha.

Listening to "Notes for the Synthesis" right now. I didn't really like "Alter Ego Autopsies" very much, but the rest of the album is really fucking awesome! That odd-meter build up during "Simplicity Has A Paradox" was really, REALLY cool.

This would sound amazing on vinyl.

Gahhhh. This is what I was expecting to hear. Also, did they have any vinyl Cartography's?

And how long did they play for? Seeing them will require me being a HUGE dick at work and calling out while we're training new people, after I already got time off last Friday for Iron Maiden, and this coming Monday for David Gilmour in NYC.

That, or it's paying for a flight to Australia to see them headline. God damnit.

So.... if any of you make it to one of the gigs, could you pick up a copy of Cartography on vinyl for me? Pretty please?

I don't think I'll be able to swing any of the shows near me; they're right smack in the middle of my work week. And none within driving distance to where I'd get there early enough for SMW without having to leave early. GRRRR

I know you pm'd me, but just so others can see, yes they had "And So We Destroyed Everything..." and "Cartography" on vinyl.  Only $20 each.

It's a short set (only 4 songs), but check this setlist...

"The Stars are Stigmata"

"In Limbs and Joints"

"Emergent"

"Traced In Constellations"

And I'm telling you, it's worth doing whatever you need to do to see them play.  For as good as the Audiotree session was, it is trash compared to actually experiencing it first hand.  It's amazing how flawless they sound with how batshit crazy they are on stage.

They were so loud my phone couldn't handle the sound, but here's a glimpse of it anyways...

Wow, shipping on this Té collection 3xLP was fast, and the packaging was top notch. Japan really knows how to take care of their records. Zankyo sent me one clear, and one splatter. So I'm pretty stoked on that. Splatter for me (which I was hoping for), and clear for my buddy.

Still available here: https://zankyorecord.bandcamp.com/album/te-official-merch

The variant you get will be random, as they are still sealed.
