A single is hardly ever a reflection of the album as a whole. Especially when it comes to stuff that we all listen to. Even more so take into the fact that a lot of albums are meant to be listened to AS AN ALBUM. Imagine that, right? A lot of songs taken out of context sound a little lack luster. But when you listen to it as an album, as it is intended, they blossom, and grow. That's what a good album does. Every song bringing out the best in the others.
It's just ridiculous to call what an album is going to be based off 10% of it. The only reason I listened is cause Thrice is forever changing; such a chameleon band. So I wanted to get a very mild taste of what they were doing. I heard guitar riffs and screaming and said 'OK, I'll bite'. Haven't listened since, and won't listen to anything till my copy comes in the mail (like I did with Caspian).
But really, this song sounds absolutely NOTHING like a Foo Fighters song, and I think I would know if it did. It really doesn't. Agreed that only with people who don't like it are making that odd, and completely wrong comparison.

If you ordered a copy of this when the black showed up on there web store after amazon put up pre-orders and your butt hurt that it might not be limited you must be very new to record collecting... 

I feel like Thrice manages to bring out some pretty dumb people with their dumb dumb opinions.

I used to buy way too much. I buy 150 records a year these days. I stopped buying 7 inches I will listen to 2 times.I also realized I donnt need to own everything by artists I like if that album isnt good. I try to listen before I buy too. If I buy too many records some never get played.
The money isn't an issue at all for me. When my collection was over 2000 records, I was like what am I doing with all this stuff. I currently am down to 1510 with 44 bought this year and 37 sold.
Just buy things you know you really want and enjoy

Cruel would be if they said that it was just these two variants and that this was a one time pressing, shipped you the records and then sold it worldwide for less than you'd paid. I feel you on the struggle of having to pay $20 shipping, but Thrice is big enough that I doubt they'd have their entire pressing of a new album be less than the Hot Topic repress of Vheissu from a few years ago. At the very least you should be able to cancel your order and get it elsewhere.
 
As a matter of fact, I seem to remember paying to see Thrice on a farewell tour, and now they're back together. Now other people get to see them on a tour after that. Is that cruel?

Then cancel your order and order domestically. There is no reason to get pissed that more people can get the record.

This is super tempting but I am not really a variant dude and I've already got a copy of this album that I spin once every 18 months.

Dine Alone shouldn't have put up their POs so fuckin' early. I highly doubt the order was even in when they did.

This is one of those albums that makes you feel very old when you find out its 20 years old.

Phaneuf takes a lot of hate because it's Toronto. Every mistake is magnified and no one acknowledges he is by far the best defenceman on that team. Reilly is supposed to be better one day but right now he can't do the minutes Dion did. Obviously, Toronto is going to flip at least Michalek because this trade they actually took back 9M in salary so they actually have more money on the books now next season. Dion losing the C and being a second pairing guy will be the best thing to happen to his career. And the reality is Ottawa paid NOTHING to get him. They unloaded an injured forward who can't play top 6, a bust first round pick who can't even hold a 5-6 defensive slot and a nobody who will be on the waiver wire and they KEPT THEIR FIRST ROUND PICK. 
 
The Leafs have now traded an elite top line winger and a top pairing right handed shot defenceman (literally the hottest commodity on the market) and a 2nd round pick for a first rounder, Kapanen and roster players who they are just waiting for contracts to expire. In a few years people will look back and scratch their heads wondering how it's possible to have gotten such a small return for players of that caliber. People love wearing the Leafs blinders and I understand with the rebuild you had to move those contracts and I agree they had to be traded but you got fucking fleeced. You got nothing. It's a rebuild and you're walking away with one prospect and one good pick. Absolute trash return. 
 
Now this is all more fuel to the Stamkos rumours. Now he says he wants to win but so did Babcock and if Babcock sold out that fast I have no doubt Stamkos will when he sees that pay cheque. Imagine he doesn't go to Toronto, they are even worse for longer than they would be now. Interested to see where these events go.
