  1. It takes you out of the record really quickly. I picked up a used copy of Monoliths and Dimensions that had a scratch on one side that clicked every time it hit the needle, it was very distracting. I ended up taking it back. But I agree with you, it is pretty amusing! Rehearsal Demo is fantastic, it's done a great job keeping me content until a new LP comes out.
  2. Just listened to my copy on grey and it's a little noisier than I remember, but it's free of any pops and clicks. It does seem mixed really low, so I have to turn it up pretty loud to really make it rumble. I wonder if the new pressing will be a little louder.
  3. This is interesting, but not surprising in the least. http://www.metalsucks.net/2013/08/26/btbam-dont-want-you-to-buy-their-old-music/
  4. I think this is just showing how sloppy they are in comparison to Mike (and Walt) and how they overlook details that could easily come back to haunt them. That was what I got from it anyway.
  5. I'm going to have to order one of those, not sure which one though.
  6. As long as you don't mind if it doesn't have the instrumentals disc and is on black vinyl, preorder it at Amazon : http://www.amazon.com/Run-Jewels-El-P-Killer-Mike/dp/B00E21D9Z6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377536757&sr=8-1&keywords=run+the+jewels+vinyl
  7. Ravedeath, 1972 is a great album. I saw him live last summer and he pretty much just played that album, it was fantastic! The Dropped Pianos EP is a good listen too.
  8. Haha, they've gotten a little better! I usually don't mind SL's prices because their packing is top notch and heavy duty. Monoliths and Dimensions is a perfect example. It was a little pricy, but I was really impressed with everything about that release. The price tag stings a little less since they hold their value pretty well too.
  9. Bah, I already have Black One! Where are the White represses!? Good news either way, Sunn O))) vinyl is way too expensive on the second hand market. Glad some folks will be able to get this for a much better price.
  10. Glad to see some other people dig Agalloch too! They weigh a little heavier on the folk metal scale than the black metal scale (in my mind anyway), either way it's good stuff. Aaron and Nathan Weaver are the two static members of WITTR and they both live on a farm outside Olympia, WA. Every time I listen to Two Hunters, I'm still surprised by how unique and ahead of it's time it sounds.
  11. I didn't expect the episode to explode light that! I thought it was going to keep things at a slow build, but holy shit did things get wild in the last 10 minutes. I guess now we know what happened to the house!
  12. Damn Sec, your contests just keep getting better! How about Drug Church - Paul Walker (from No Sleep). Thanks as always!
  13. Seeing Zack Snyder's name attached immediately ruined this film for me, I don't like his directing style at all.
  14. I like Neil quite a bit too. So far, I've enjoyed the first season more than I have this one. I don't know if it's the Genoa story arc or the fact that the show is focusing more on relationships than it did in season one, but it's not hitting as well for me. I still like it more than most shows on, I've just felt that there's been a slight quality dip. I am glad that Jim is finally off the damn bus and Maggie wasn't in Africa long, the show works much better when all the players are in the same place.
  15. For dramas, I'd recommend : The Newsroom (and The West Wing) Justified Sons of Anarchy (at least the first couple seasons) Boardwalk Empire Treme (creator of The Wire's latest show. It's different, but I think it's excellent as well) Friday Night Lights Battlestar Galactica (I second whoever recommended that) Veronica Mars As far as comedies go : Childrens' Hospital Community Happy Endings (highly recommended) Louie New Girl Parks and Recreation Hope you find some stuff you like!
  16. I agree with you there, both the S/T album and the 2009 Demo release are my favorite material from them.

  18. Woods of Desolation and Alcest would be good bands to check out if you liked Sunbather. Alcest's main member does the spoken word piece on Please Remember on Sunbather. Other bands off the top of my head would be Vattnet Viskar, Nachtmystium, Inter Arma and maybe Xasthur. Pyramids, Horseback and their collaboration album might be worth checking out too. They fall a little closer to noise/experimental/drone with elements of black metal though. Mount Eerie has a lot of black metal elements too, but I'm not sure if that's the first genre I'd classify them under.
  19. Exactly how I feel. The clean vocals don't ruin the album, but I don't think they work well for these guys.
  20. That $55 LP deal is hard to beat is great. I'd recommend making that Adebisi Shank album one of the 5, really fun instrumental band.
  21. New track, enjoy! : https://soundcloud.com/the-dismemberment-plan/invisible-2/s-nhXFr
  22. new track : http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/15890-homesick/ pitchfork streams never seem to work for me, so I can't give any comments on it.
