  1. I'd be much happier if they just pressed those Beck songs onto a 7", those songs are fantastic. The overall soundtrack is good and is perfect for the movie, but there just isn't enough original material on it for me to want to pick up a copy.
  2. Haha, not a problem. The beginner forum on Homebrew Talk would be a good place to browse too : http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/ That place has been a huge boon of information for me.
  3. I agree with this statement completely. If you think this is a hobby that you'll enjoy and stick with and do regularly, it's worth spending the extra money right off the bat and getting a decent sized kettle. The ones in starter kits are usually cheap 5 gallon ones. In addition, if this is something you do think you'll do a lot, consider starting with all-grain brewing (as opposed to extract or partial extract). It's a little more complicated to start out, but you'll learn more and in the end you'll have MUCH better beer. I started out doing all grain and it was a little daunting at first, but I'm glad I did. If possible, see if you can find someone in the area to guide you through the first batch or two. Offer to fill them full of beer and give them a gallon of your first batch or something. John Palmer's How To Brew Beer is an excellent resource reading : http://www.howtobrew.com/intro.html If you have any specific questions about equipment or what not, feel free to DM me. I usually brew two 5 gallon batches a month and should know enough to get you setup. I would keep in mind that it can be a fairly expensive hobby to get into initially, but most of your equipment should last for a very long time and after that you mostly need to buy ingredients. It is a little time consuming, a brew session usually takes me about 6 hours (and I've got my methods pretty streamlined). Patience is the other big thing, be prepared to brew a batch and drink it 6 to 8 weeks later. It's tough at first, but if you do it enough, you'll have plenty of other beer to keep you occupied! But like I said, if you have any questions, hit me up. I'm more than happy to help! Start saving non-twist off bottles now too, especially 22oz ones (you'll be glad you did). Just rinse them out really good with hot water, don't run them through the dishwasher or anything. Edit : Sorry if that post is a little hard to follow, I just woke up.
  4. If it is in fact just Reflektor and an instrumental, I'll save my 10$ and put it toward picking up the LP when it comes out. The cover art is rad, but I have no interest in spending money on an album track and an instrumental I won't listen to more than once.
  5. Fuck, don't know how I missed that! Long night at work must have turned my brain into mush. I second the OooOOo suggestion. I would imagine if you dig Crosses, you'll probably enjoy them.
  6. ^ Well done, sir! This thread and the album have rekindled my interest in the band and prompted to me to pay more attention to the albums I hadn't spend enough time with (Mare and Ring War especially. It also makes me wish I was a little more sober the last time I saw them...
  7. I watched Trance about a month or so ago and enjoyed it quite a bit. It's stunning visually. I'm a little too tired to dive into the plot, but I'd recommend paying attention and possibly a second viewing.
  8. Ataraxia/Taraxis was a huge let down for me, but Deny the Absolute has completely restored any faith I had lost. I'm really looking forward to this.
  9. From what I've noticed, Southern Lord doesn't really have any rhyme or reason when it comes to preorders. Some albums don't seem to get them at all. Plus, it's still over a month away.
  10. Meant to listen to that the other day, I try to keep up with CBB every week. Neko's twitter account is pretty funny at times, I'm looking forward to hearing here on the podcast.
  11. Good thing this isn't a lightning round, I've got some research to do. This is a fun one!
  12. I wish I knew more about this EP and whether it's really worth the effort to try and grab a copy.
  13. Fantastic, now I know how I'm killing some time at work this evening!
  14. Save for Darkest Hour, Dillinger Escape Plan and Animals as Leaders, I think their lineup is complete garbage. But, the same thing could be said about Hot Water Music's label mates on Rise and Epitaph is shaping up to be the exact same way. It doesn't really mean anything overall and chances are Asking Alexandra money is paying for Animals as Leaders albums (I'm guessing Crosses brings in enough of their own loot, but who knows). I do agree that it's a weird singing, but oh well. Now if Crosses gets stuck touring with some of those bands, I might be upset.
  15. I enjoyed the episode more than I thought I would. The last season didn't hook my like the previous two did, but this one is off to a promising start. I hope the Domination League is involved with the whole season, Rafi's whole world cracks me up.
  16. From what I've read, the version that leaked is unfinished to some extent. I think I can hold off until the broadcast version hits. Breaking Bad, The Newsroom and Boardwalk Empire will fill up enough of my Sunday night until then.
  17. It's been a while since I've listened to it, but I remember enjoying most of it. I'd say check it out. I can send you my download code if you want. I'm fairly certain I didn't use it.
  18. I was lucking enough to get both variants on the last pressing they did. Glad they're pressing another batch though, the album is one of my favorites and it should be in as many hands as possible. Man The Ramparts is such a mighty song, gives me chills every time I hear it.
  19. I saw this yesterday and completely forgot to post it! Clear Moon and Ocean Roar are both excellent, I'm interested to see how this turns out. I hope it doesn't feel too much like a novelty album. Phil's prices are usually reasonable, so I have a feeling I'll end up ordering this eventually.
  20. Ten Rapid and EP+6 are both really good. I haven't managed to dig through their entire catalogue, but there are some gems hidden in the EPs and singles. Kicking a Dead Pig doesn't do much for me, but I don't really feel like Young Team warranted a remix album either. On the plus side, it's a 3xLP which can be snagged for relatively cheap. I think that A Wrenched Virile Lore was a better remix album, mainly due to the material that it had to work with.
