  1. What was the retail price for the original release? I thought it wasn't much lower than $35-40. And that was a few years ago, BEFORE it became a regular thing to see $25 single LP reissues. If that's the case, even if this is a reissue, I don't think the price is too bad.
  2. $34.31 with shipping and "handling" tacked on. The Bullmoose link I posted earlier may still be cheaper for people in the states importcds.com charges sales tax in (CA, IL, KY).
  3. Bullmoose has this for $36: http://www.bullmoose.com/p/16967670/parker-ray-jr-run-dmc-ghostbusters-stay-puft-edition (No figure, but for $23* I can live without it!) *Not to mention free shipping and tax free!
  4. I don't know if I'm remembering correctly, but I thought they used the wrong take of the A side and that's why it was pulled. If that's the case, then the re-release will obviously be different (even though the sleeve on the order page appears the exact same as the prior one).
  5. This is a good point that came to mind after my original post. For better or worse, I give a band or label I'm buying from direct a little more slack than something I'm buying off eBay or Discogs. In those cases, I figure if I'm paying a premium to a reseller, they should take some care in packing it to minimize damage. A bad corner ding on a $15 newly released LP doesn't bug me as much as on a $50 "rare" record. Don't know if it's fair, it's just the way I think.
  6. That previously released, then-pulled heat-reactive Elvira 7" is back on sale (just in time for Halloween!): http://thirdmanstore.com/featured/elvira-2-big-pumpkins-7-vinyl-1
  7. I know this is touched on in some of the other topics posted here about shoddy packaging but I was specifically wondering where people draw the line for the amount of damage they're willing to accept when they order something in the mail. I feel like I'm on the more liberal end of the spectrum and as long as the record itself isn't broken or cracked and there's not some horrible gash or rip on the sleeve, I can deal with pretty severe corner dings, seam splits, etc. What amount of damage will prompt you to contact the label/store/band and what do you usually ask for? A refund, replacement, future credit? Just something I've always been curious about how other collectors think...
  8. I bought a 7" a few years back on eBay. The seller put it in a plain white envelope, approximately 7" x 7". No inserts, no stiffeners, no padding. Just a plain white envelope. Didn't even write "fragile" or "do not bend" on the outside, for all the good that does anyway. The brilliant mailman crammed it into my small mail slot meant for regular letters, perhaps not realizing there was something rigid inside not meant to be bent (though I highly doubt this is possible). By some miracle, the record didn't break in two, but it was so badly warped a small mouse could have used it as a boat. The sleeve was also very badly damaged. This one's always stuck with me...
  9. Yeah - me, my girlfriend and my goomara each got one. It's times like these when I'm truly thankful to be a mob boss.
  10. I've got to say, Mondo drops are the closest you can get to the experience of being at or near the front of the line on RSD without leaving your house.
  11. I wouldn't say I care about it but, as someone who buys records and often gets shut out of limited preorders due to flipping, I have a mild interest in seeing if some of Mondo's actions (like $60 retail prices and long preorder windows) discourage flipping down the line.
  12. So now it'll be interesting to see when it finally comes out if the long pre-order window made this one non-flippable. I'm guessing it did, but who knows with Mondo?
  13. For those without much red on your splatter copies, look on the bright side: those represent slow, painful, long-suffering killings unlike the quick blood-lettings that the more reddish patterns imply. Doesn't that make you feel better?
  14. This is spot on. If it were just a 12" x 12" print and a handbill for $50 they'd be selling like hotcakes. You make the print a jacket instead and put a record inside and suddenly people are complaining. It's not like this is some run-of-the-mill record that someone just pressed on colored vinyl and charged double the going rate for. The package as a whole is really cool/rather unique.
  15. Screw 180gm, all true audiophiles know nothing matches the fidelity of marshmallow scented vinyl.
  16. Here's the conversation: "Hey, look at this Blink-182 record I bought!" "What's that weird pattern on the vinyl?" "It's etched lyrics!" "How much did you pay for that turd?" "Fifty bucks plus shipping!" "You're a moron..."
  17. I thought the Die Hard editions were traditionally hand numbered and had alternate artwork. I assumed that was the same for this release; is that not the case?
  18. Syd Kemp - The Horror is available here: http://circuitsweet.bigcartel.com/product/cassette-store-day-release-syd-kemp-the-horror Would appreciate it if anyone else knows other titles that are available online, particularly UK/EU exclusives.
  19. If you can't trust someone named creamjuice, who can you trust??
