There's been loads of people reporting the sound issue. Have you complained to VMP?

I finally listened to my VMP copy. It has very bad surface noise for the first 45 seconds and then the rest of it sounds great. 

I know this doesn’t exactly belong in this thread, but it also kind of does and I really wanted to share it, so here it is:

This is easily the best part for me.  Just the complete hissy fit they threw in an attempt to smear MOV, compounded with the years of waiting... for a negligibly "superior" – if at all – press of the same record.  Pretty incredible stuff.
 
Glad to hear the VMP press sounds so good though.  Reading tons of Discogs comments about surface noise but I seldom trust anyone's "review" on that site these days.

Well, I upgraded my table last year, and that alone costs $2K.
 
And I just played the MOV gold and the VMP gold pressing, back to back, Record 1 only. 
 
And they sound basically identical. I mean, I could lie and say the "artist approved" Clouds Hill pressing is more dynamic, or clearer, but honestly.... In a blind test I couldn't tell these apart. They're both cut extremely loud and not much more dynamic than the original CD. Both of them even have surface noise in the same spots. (Beginnings of each side during the quiet parts.)
 
I mean, this is par for the course for Cedric & Omar, but it's still hilarious they pitched a fit over the MOV reissue, cancelled the FtM MOV release, waited 7 (??) years to do their "official" reissues, and.... They're basically the same. I guess the "back cover" is now the "front cover." GREAT.
 
I still have the box set sealed, definitely selling that now once prices start going up in a few years.

Just came here to say that I am one of the poor souls who actually purchased this, after missing out many of the ridiculous GJ items in the past.  Ok, $200 - probably shouldn’t have done it and just gone to the fucking show. To add insult to injury, after checking my account this morning - there is an additional $5.98 international transaction fee for purchasing on my debit card from MusicGlue. I deserve every rude, asshole comment from the community after this fucking madness. If you are also going to the Chicago show, you can slap me in the face in person - might not feel as defeating. 

Holy shit.  That's brutal in a not-really-funny-but-actually-kind-of-hilarious way.

At this point?  Definitely not.  I would never rely on Amazon to come through with any pre-order of a limited nature.

They couldn't take the criticism and getting called out for scamming people on their "exclusives"

I was actually bummed I missed out. From what I remember the wording DID NOT make it seem like you were buying into future “clearance” exclusives.

Yeah, but you also get to play with a paper wheel to access a QR code which lets you commiserate with other strangers who’ve been scammed, over FaceTime.  It’s tough to assign a monetary value to that.

Discogs at least doesn't use an average, so an extra high/extra low doesn't have as big an effect as if they did. They use a median, not a mean for the middle number.

In addition to supply and demand being the main culprit, Discogs creates an additional price hike on a lot of records by showing the pricing history as just 3 numbers on each release page.
 
Often one copy of a record will sell for above the 'going rate'—maybe because no other copies are available, or because of a lack of availability in a certain country, or even because of an autograph. This changes the "highest" sale price on the Discogs page, and unfortunately, most sellers see this as a marker of what the record can sell for. Suddenly every copy is listed higher, and a few sales later, the median price goes up too.
 
This is less common with other resale sites, even eBay, because rather than one sale being an obvious outlier (as it would be when scrolling through sold eBay listings), one highest Discogs sale can reframe the whole price bracket for a record. And the relationship between Discogs and the 'hobby' of record collection is pretty unique—it is basically the bible of pressings and resale value, the one place pretty much everyone consults.

Also, as I've gotten older I've realized the world is utter chaos & there are a lot of people with more money than brains.

Don't feel bad at all.  Glassjaw is an awesome band and have some great music.  At least they're self promotion and merchandising is inventive, albeit frustrating.  I am seriously considering the vinyl myself.  I have been a fan of the band ever since the original release of EYEWTKAS.  Honestly, I have paid more for other vinyl records in the secondary market, but this is a hard price to swallow.  If your a fan of this band, than who's to say your wrong for spending the money though?

These are 100% already pressed. They’re just gonna store them in a warehouse for ten years before shipping them to the address with which you bought a ticket. 
And the colours will be in the reverse order.

Hey they have a four year old album that some of us celebrate.

What's really wild is the listings all say these are being made to order. I highly doubt that.
 
Every single pressing plant in America (and likely Europe, too) is backed up for months and months, and at many plants, new orders are being told to expect up to a 13-month(!!!) turnaround.
 
Either Glassjaw is lying about these being made to order and have already placed an order with a pressing plant (with plans on a wider release after the tour is over), or they're extremely overconfident about launching a pre-order with no defined end date that is dependent on being ready by the first night of their tour. Shitshow ahoy!
