  1. If I was selling a lot it probably wouldn't matter, but for the moment I've changed shipping to 4.50 per LP mailer. It's dumb, but the 30-something cents per order do go to packing materials.
  2. Awesome, this is very useful knowledge and will probably come in handy in case I get a fraudulent Paypal dispute or something similar. I've been very lucky to not get anything like that so far, but some of my sales have been to no-feedback no-profile just-joined-today people so I get nervous sometimes. No trouble yet, but you never know.
  3. I sent my first package to Canada today, had to be First Class. I have an Approval #, a Transaction #, a Bill #, and a Reciept #, is it any of those? And where would I look? I want to test this out. Sorry if I'm a noob.
  4. Oh god, I don't care about anything else, I'm reeeeeally hoping that Twilight Sad isn't EU/UK only.
  5. This stuff looks really well done. He puts a lot of care into creating something people will want and cherish. Makes me wish I had a collection of something.
  6. Black Dice and LCD Soundsystem from that DFA records discount thread, both double LP's - Atlas Sound, Octopus Project and Melt-Banana from a Discogs guy that consistently has decent prices and really reasonable shipping rates,he represents Pork Records or something. The 7" is that Destroyer / Wye Oak split from some RSD years ago that my gf got me randomly. No crazy colors or special editions here, just some good stuff.
  7. Had to bite on this. Seems a little shtick-y, but yknow.. I loved Macaulay Culkin in Party Monster, and if anything this will be sure to piss off my girlfriend who worships that Velvet Underground and Nico album. I copped the Pizza thing and Brick Mower, along with da FREE TAPE. I'm not familiar with a lot of these bands besides, like.. The Banner.. so just please send me your absolute favorite tape out of all you have in stock that I didn't just order. I ordered with my username at hotmail. Or not, anything's fine. Thanks man.
  8. RE is reissue, pretty sure. I don't know the specifications offhand (I'm sure a little digging would give the true answer but I'm a tad lazy right now) but to me that has always meant some kind of enhanced content that prevents it from being a simple repress - bonus tracks, alternate art, a bonus DVD, that kind of thing. Again, I could be wrong, this is all mostly from my own experience.
  9. 1. That depends greatly on the circumstances of the rerelease. A number of factors can alter the quality. If it's a repress, I believe that means they used the same master tape to create it and usually it will sound identical, but remasters will obviously sound somewhat different. Or if they released it on heavier vinyl, or if it was a shitty bootleg, or if your original 1980 recording was not stored properly, all sorts of things can affect the quality. 2. Catalog numbers, jacket details, center labels and etchings in the vinyl will usually tell you what pressing a record was, and will pinpoint (if not steer you in the general direction of) its release date and release location. This does take a little research on your part in terms of knowing what to look for. Discogs is a great resource for this, a lot of people have tirelessly added data to make it easier for regular joes to assess what exactly they have. When you're talking about a lesser known, more obscure band with little releases and small pressing numbers, it's a snap. With something like Back in Black, arguably one of the most popular albums of all time when vinyl was still a standard, it's had multitudes of pressings, repressings, reissues and remasters in numerous countries, so you can see that it starts to get hairy. Research is the answer. 3. Most of the time, a simple Google search will tell you if a specific recording was released on vinyl. But again, Discogs comes in handy for these types of things. Welcome to VC, by the way. If any of that stuff is wrong, please feel free to correct and.or shame me.
  10. Oh hey I saw your thing on Discogs. Did you check the price history before putting it up?
  11. Wow, some of these prices are... pretty okay.
  12. I'd rather be sifting through their physical shelves any day, but I guess this'll do.
  13. Psyched for this. Gettin a copy for me and the girlfriend. She's huge on this album.
  14. Congratulations, it's great to see new small labels, I'll be checking it out to see whatcha got.
  15. If anyone's interested, and since this thread kind of became a label general, Fleeting Youth put up another tape for pre-order: Habits - Unselves In Arrival http://fleetingyouthrecords.bandcamp.com/album/habits-unselves-in-arrival 5 bucks plus shipping makes $8. Never heard of them and only one track is up, but it sounds great and if it's anything like the other releases it should be worth it. I ordered immediately. Just got some of their tapes in the mail today, all a different color, they're beautiful. I like that this tape label doesn't seal the tapes shut with a sticker I have to peel off that leaves a residue, bugh. Sounds minor but some labels do this and it drives someone like me up the wall.
  16. I constantly see new sealed Shins for 12 bucks or so at record stores, this doesn't seem like a particularly amazing deal unless Wincing The Night Away was significantly more for some reason. Still it's convenient, and yes I am tempted, I don't own any Shins.
  17. Did the same, glad that Ghostly was carrying as well.
  18. I checked Oldies a couple days ago out of boredom and curiosity... if they happen to have another wave I hope they put up some other kind of stock, but if it's been this long it doesn't seem like there will be.
  19. I see. It's an interesting tool, but you're right, it's definitely short a few dozen items that have never been sold, especially tapes. My median is about $4k at the moment. I've been collecting since late 2012. Sounds right I guess. The best feature of this tool is making myself feel better about my own purchases. For instance, I had no idea Ty Segall - Slaughterhouse on clear sold for so much. I bought it in a regular record store. I know me and I'm gonna pore over this.
  20. I would think a lot of people care. This is a hobby that's interested in those sorts of details. If you're not that's fine.
