I actually got really "lucky" with this. My wife and I used random 45s from old jukeboxes as placecards for our wedding (music-themedish) and I have about seven wooden 7" crates that each hold around 100 7"s. I would sell some, but my wife has such sentimental attachment to wedding stuff I can't even put stickers on the crates...anyway I have a seemingly neverending supply of 7" storage.

Agreed on the 7". I actually wouldn't mind them if I had a quality place/unit/thing to store them in/on. Currently the 23 I own are in a drawer with my socks. Vinyl Storage 101.

As I don't have a horse in this race...

It's a cash grab because it's a $60 deluxe 10" set available in four different gimmicky colors. It's on four 10"s for no other reason than to create more profit. They could have pressed a double LP for half the production price and sold it for $25, but they didn't. It's really a huge slap in the face to most fans and it's a huge part of what's wrong with the record industry.

The people buying the most physical music and keeping labels in business are the people buying vinyl. These shitty vinyl labels are trying to take advantage of the only people giving a shit and eventually more people will figure it out and just stop giving in. There's a minority of people who really like this 4 x 10" stuff, and a bet a lot of them already have the original pressing. The majority of people want to listen to a record on their favorite format and not be raped to have to do so.

It's why I'm a fan of how third man does business. Offer a limited, gimmicky-as-fuck edition for people who love that stuff, and offer a no-frills, good sounding, black record at a reasonable price that doesn't go out of print.

When they put the records in printed inserts I cringe....Its impossible to remove them without scuffing and usually they already are from being assembled

No artist should ever use that

The thicker jacket inserts that you can actually open the jacket and remove are ok, poly lined or even a simple paper

However those thin ass wax paper printed inserts drive me nuts

Vinyl record production isn't like making silicon wafers, tiny scratches are par for the course. They can creep in at any point from the manufacturing process through to packing and distribution in paper sleeves or whatever.

As long as the record sounds badass its all good.

We need a "Vinyl Reissue/Repress Council" to be in charge of granting clearance to reissue/repress records.

So here we are. Arrived safely, came shrink wrapped.

    Package:
The sleeve looks great, though the card is thin, but sturdy enough. The vinyl is stunning, as was evident earlier, and not so evident with my low-light poor photography. No liner notes, just a download code.

    Audio and manufacture:
Having just listened, I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with the sound, it sounded great. I'm hearing all the detail, whether it be on the louder parts of '26isdancier' and 'rufus', or the more soulful 'japanese ultraviolence' I'm hearing crisp guitars and great range. Trackwise, '1470 Man' and 'Want To Come Back...  Belle and Seb' are switched around, at least to what I'm used to.

Manufacturer is XVinylX from Prague, Czech Republic, I have no experience of them, anyone have any comments?

    Worth it?:
I imagine when you guys and girls in the US open this package you may feel a bit cheated as you don't get much 'tangible' for your money (for me it was a bargain btw ^^), but one spin of this record will soon cheer you up, I guarantee you.

No real specifics. Signed and unsigned vinyl available, I'm guessing there are 500 of each (judging only by what is left).

I'm only a fan of their early work if I'm honest, but looking forward to see what they come up with this time around in any case.

Arrived this morning and I have since given it a spin.

The album sounds great, although I can't really be impartial with this one as it was the first album I ever bought when it first came out. Can't really give an informed opinion about if anything is different with the remaster as I haven't listened to the original in a while.

One thing I disliked however is that "Bonehead's Bank Holiday" song at the end of Disc 1 side 2. Such an atrociously bad song IMO, it's like a turd in the middle of an otherwise faultless record.

AdBlock for days.  Just a few weeks ago I was told that a lot of Youtube videos have ads?  Ain't nobody got time for any of that.
And I knew that SRC was involved with the Mew Frengers press or whatever, but I just assumed that they played a part in securing the rights and were going to distribute it exclusively.  I had no idea they pressed the vinyl and assembled the packaging themselves.  Pretty cool.
