  1. Someone please do something about this. Dereks signature being perfectly in line with his profile pic is one of the few aesthetically pleasing things on these boards and I'm getting a severe headache seeing that it's not. I'm not even joking.
  2. Was at the same show and lucky enough to be one of the early birds who got a copy (actually have two since my friend who went with me couldn't fit his copy in the cd-player). Also, that unreleased song is by and far the best thing I've heard from them post-ILAD. Really fucking incredible.
  3. Oh my.. Just got a promo CD copy of this. Been avoiding the leaks and was all set to wait until my copy arrives, but that's over now. The cat and I are beyond excited for them cuddles to some new American Football.
  4. @Gumbo72203 Do it. I paid $200 a couple years back and don't care for anything pre All The Footprints. It's worth it and you're looking at a great price there. But, to echo Matts sentiment, how do you still not have a new table?
  5. I was so close to taking a 4h drive after work yesterday to see Justin at some Berlin festival. Now I read he's been doing a techno set with some random dudes I never heard of. I would've been pissed beyond control if I went for that. Haha.
  6. First time giving this album a listen and.. I don't know. It's kind of a 50+ minute meditation on Mogwai's Auto Rock. Which is pretty weird, I guess.
  7. @YouTwo Deluxe copies at my local have the 12" and LP in a single shrink wrap, with an extra bar code sticker on it. Doesn't make any difference once you opened it, though.
  8. @Vega Agreed. Looks amazing. edit: Oh, shit. This album is so much better than I ever would've hoped. The first two songs were an amazing introduction, but they can't prepare for what's happening on side two. It's beautiful beyond words, really.
  9. I have not seen those newspapers so I can't comment on that. The booklet has all lyrics in OCD-triggering layout with each song filling up two pages, but that's it. That's exactly what I'm talking about.
  10. Got the LP+12" today and the packaging is phenomenal. About to listen to it for the first time and I'm pretty damn excited. There's a huge variety of promotional posters out there, got five from my local shop, each representing a different song on the album.
  11. So far, I'm on the fence with this album. Circumambulation hasn't been exactly revelatory to my ears and didn't stand the test of time too well, compared to their early material. Now Avvolgere is a mild disappointment, even when compared to its direct predecessor. I can't really put my fingers on what it is I dislike, or if there's anything to dislike at all, I guess I'm just very indifferent to their newer output. Which is a shame, really, considering just how much I used to celebrate them early on and enjoy their first records still.
  12. I'm pretty stunned to see Deep Listening score so high, or at all. I guess it's a stretch to tag it an ambient album to some, but I agree. A drone/ambient favorite of mine and way underappreciated.
  13. Another vote for Home Away From Here. I hadn't heard a single song by them before seeing them support Converge while touring Parting The Sea. Went home with the LP and spent the rest of the night listening to it over and over again. Is Survived By was a minor letdown, for me, and, apart from Science-Fiction, didn't have a lasting impact. So my expectations weren't particularly high for Stage Four, but after about ten listens in, I'm content to say they're back on track. Flowers and You and Skyscraper are among their finest songs, ever. Benediction's making me itchy in all the wrong places, so far, but it's not a bad song, I guess I need a little more getting used to it. Talking about Keep You vs. Stage Four, to me that comparison is flawed. Keep You is, next to among the most gut-wrenchingly heartbreaking albums I heard, far removed from the anger and despair of Stage Four. All of PBTT's albums are working on the topic of losing a parent, but The Lack Long After would be the obvious counterpart of where TA are right now, to me. I went with the EU clear/red haze and it turned out nicely. I was concerned about it being unenjoyable, as haze-variants are known to be sometimes, but everything is fine. A nice, quiet, clean and good looking copy of a really, really good album.
  14. Mondo has insane base prices for retailers. Over here in Europe it retails for 40-45€ and though the mark-up definitely has to do with importing costs, it's also due their stuff costing upwards of 30€ for retailers.
  15. I spent 5 minutes reading through the comment section of that video and subsequently died of cancer.
