  1. I reiterate, that I will gladly purchase or trade for a copy of "The Quietest Place On Earth" vinyl. That music is absolutely divine to me. Plus the record looks cool as shit too. Will probably buy this Translation Loss release... $50 is too much for Departure Songs for me. I like the record, but not THAT much.
  2. HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. Somebody please tell me they have a copy of "The Quietest Place On Earth" that they would part with. Please. This is like, my perfect band. This album is absolutely perfect, in every way. I might even trade my copy of Oceansize "Effloresce" for the translucent blue version of this album. God fucking damn.
  3. So I think I'm going to part ways with my original press Wake/Lift if anybody wants it. It's the navy swirl.
  4. I think its cool they have the ambient stuff, but I rarely listen to that material by itself. I'd rather have the regular release, and then a mix of the two, I think. Either way, I can't wait to have this and spin it. I hope the variants are super kick-ass. I've been waiting to find a rainbow splatter of Wake/Lift for not-ridiculous prices for a long fucking time.
  5. .....thats not coke-bottle clear? So... is that band purple completely gone now from HelloMerch? I pre-ordered the yellow, and I want to get the purple instead. I hate working so much... otherwise I'd just sit on here and figure all this shit out myself. That turquoise does look pretty nice, its actually the exact same color as the side bars and background of this forum on my computer!
  6. They were way sold out dude. Dear Hunter sound fucking sucked ass last night though. Gates and Chon sounded amazing, but the sound for Dear Hunter was super distorted and washed out, I was really bummed. Almost like everything was running too hot. The drums were also way in the background. Kinda bummed, because a better sound would have made that music fucking epic.
  7. me toO! Can't fucking wait for this! Caspian is threatening to over-take my Isis collection for size now.
  8. any of you guys going to the NYC gig tonight? I'm heading down from Albany in a couple hours. Look for me in my Isis hoodie!
  9. I'm thinking of cancelling my yellow vinyl too, this is ridiculous. The purple looks way better any way. Listening to "Roads To Judah" on my clear vinyl copy right now... I fucking love this album.
  10. Word, just saw that, but not everybody is part of that thread, and we want to get the word out as much as possible!
  11. I wonder why they're making this a 4XLP instead of 2XLP? I'm thinking shipping for this new repress is going to be stupid high as a result. But at any rate, I'm excited because I want this material on vinyl. Hopefully this curbs some of the stupid Discogs bullshit like this: http://www.discogs.com/sell/item/281727203
  12. From Facebook! October 18th: Ten years ago today, The Galilean Satellites was released. In honor of that milestone, we have two pieces of information to share with you: 1. New release. Right now we're working on a Remixes/B-sides/rarities compilation that will come out this December/January. We don't have a specific release date for this, but around the holidays it'll be ready to go. This will include tons of stuff: all our Japan-edition remixes, some new remixes, ADOM-era demo recordings, the INFAMOUS acoustic version of "Au Pays Natal," remastered lost tracks from our 2003 demo, live recordings, and some 'quiet' reinterpretations of new and old songs... possibly even more. It'll be a huge retrospective. We should also note there will be significant content bonuses for people who purchase this release (as opposed to free downloading). 2. Vinyl represses of Wake/Lift and The Galilean Satellites. Translation Loss Records have confirmed that 2016 will be the year for both of these albums to return to vinyl. Again, there are not specific release dates for these, but Wake/Lift will come first, early in the year, and TGS will follow later in 2016. And yes, TGS will be a 4xLP, and yes, you will be able to sync it up on a DJ setup. Fuck yeah!
  13. Any of you guys have an extra ticket for the Friday gig in Boston by any chance?
  14. Glad you checked them out! I agree man, not everything has to be confined to just one thread, guys!
  15. Haha, I actually love those long phrase titles with the one word in quotes. But, that's probably not surprising for you guys, knowing me lol. I found out that one of the songs I like is on their most recent album... just comparing the symbols in the title. Which is kind of cool to do. I wish I read Japanese!
  16. shit yeah I need that! It's still available from their bandcamp too. I just wish they translated these titles into English, I have no fucking clue which songs are on which albums. But my god this music is unreal. Have you guys checked out their live DVD? There's a full rip of it on Youtube. and
  17. I've got some epic openers... Saw Muse open for the Foo Fighters and RHCP in... 2000? 1998? I don't even remember. I was in 7th or 8th grade. And then in high school: Mastadon opening for... maybe Shadows Fall and Dying Fetus? I don't even know, I just know I stood in front of Brent Hinds on stage-right and he played a Flying V guitar and screamed like a demon. They had like a 25 minute set, haha.
  18. So, this band is insane. I'm having trouble figuring out which songs are on which albums, but if you guys like math rock, post-rock and metal at all, you'll probably love these guys. I can't stop! The closest thing I can compare them to is if Gates were crazier and more "hardcore" I guess. These guys have a very raw intense sound. Here's 2 of my favorite tracks so far:
  19. That's actually the one thing I really don't dig about the album; the folk melodies feel a little forced. I love their sound otherwise, those riffs are sick. I just don't like the folky stuff in metal in general. Just a taste thing.
  20. I wish they went with more trippy, shoegazey post-rock instead of the folk melodies though. That would have made me pull the trigger instantly. The album is super short, too...
  21. Yeah I love the artwork. I'm thinking of picking up the clear too... and the CD. But holy hell, these guys are literally Sunbather 2.0. EDIT: So, I like this album. I don't love it. But I like it. They sound like a not-quite-as-good version of Deafheaven. However, the sound of this album is fucking fantastic. Those drums!!! The blastbeats on HappyHouse sound fucking incredible. I haven't been that impressed by blast beats since fucking Horgh's shit on Sons of Northern Darkness. I really like the production on this album, but the songs just don't compleeeetely grab me. Maybe in time. Or maybe I should just pull the trigger on a clear and sell it to someone else for like 30euros later
  22. Thank you; yes, I know what we are talking about for fucks sake. It still seems kind of odd to me that they would have never seen it, but I guess if only 10 were made or whatever and released by the label, then sure. I would have just figured the label would still send the band one to be like "Hey, isn't this shit super cool? Look how awesome this came out, here's one for you guys." Or something like that. My favorite part is the labeling on the back for the songs, and how they've got Quovis, Further Up, and Further In all together like they are on the record.
  23. I know that; I guess I hadn't ever considered he was doing it in that capacity before. I think of him as the guitar player from Isis first, label exec 2nd. That makes more sense, knowing that story. It just seemed super weird to me that a band wouldn't have ever seen one of its own releases. Do the test presses ever sound much different than the regular releases?
  24. Damn, that's a cool-looking release. I just always assumed the band wanted to listen to a test press to give the okay before sending them off. At least I know Aaron Turner from Isis does that... I remember reading somewhere he rejected the first test of the new Sumac album.
  25. Sounds like an epic night, man. This might be a dumb question, but why wouldn't they have ever seen that release? I kind of always assumed bands had to give an okay on stuff like that, especially if it was a test press?
