  1. The Screaming Eagle is certainly something else, ill have a couple tables at the record show this sunday i'm going to have hundreds of 2 for $1 45s, as well as a few boxes of more choice priced stuff as well as LPs might find something of interest
  2. That Monks release was dope especially for $10. How are the Blues reissues that just came out?
  3. Been working on organizing for the record convention and wanted to see if the VC folks wanted a crack at it first, contains records from my personal collection as well as records acquired in my travels. Hopefully you can find something you enjoy https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jTddhhjlp1JAXSSGTKOVUoenjpL_cqSX9v7j7jXiMRQ/edit?usp=sharing
  4. cause mastering from a cd is pointless and some of us actually like the format for the sound quality, if it doesn't have a dedicated master then yeah I would just stick to cd/digital. I think the Gilead had a dedicated master, did not have the compression level of the CD for this or CFUTF to my ears. But with all the licensing being bleh, did they just use those plates? Or did they have to find a different source, if it's a high rez transfer from the tapes it can sound good like I said I dunno how it was recorded and doubt it was all analog for that point in time. I do care however if you lazy up and just use the same master, can't crank it to greater effect and sounds like a blanket is thrown over your speakers, the last Jayhawks album was like that and I'd dump it if the whole band didn't autograph it for me.
  5. sticking with my brown copy, but may buy one later if the reviews come in good. Really don't know much about how this was recorded or how the tapes were kept preserved so it could end up not being an upgrade from the gilead pressing or maybe it will
  6. if its on the floor and priced its yours but I bet its gone if I flubbed it was awhile back
  7. Dunno if this isn't in line with the label or too unsure of a thing or if you are even into them but would be cool to see someone press https://www.discogs.com/Matson-Jones-The-Albatross-Mates-For-Life-But-Only-After-A-Lengthy-Courtship-That-Can-Take-Up-To-Fou/release/4340798 to lp
  8. Sweet I do have a stream of income still from my other job so ill try to pick one up after payday Friday evening would love to have a copy and support a fellow poster
  9. done ill try to order one soon, but i'm kinda in the hole about to do a mass record sale though I just bought a giant collection and have hopes to open an online and possible by appointment record store out of my garage
  10. I seriously thought you were joking didn't know this was rare shit pretty sure I let one go for like $10-15 recently at the store oh well, happened before with eagles hell freezes over and 13th floor elevators easter everywhere hate learning the hard way but at least someone got a deal and will probably be back
  11. I've bought a handful sounds like a stroke of bad luck it actually happened to both of the LPs in my NMH boxset, in the aeroplane plays fine but there is excessive noise on avery island and no cleaning is going to get it out it's obviously from the scuffing just by looking at it. I traded someone for a sealed copy didn't even bring it up because how could it be their fault if it's securely in the box and never been opened? Still love having it but can't exactly request a replacement LP, could just buy a stand alone copy if it really gets to me eventually
  12. My manager threw out his back so now I have to open, blarg but ill be off early enough to do something after work. Some days I feel like an old man, all cranky, and full of pain listening to old records complaining about how music used to be better (you know I love modern music but the more I explore 50-70s music the more I start to agree). Sam & Dave's 1st album with coffee and a bowl, today is going to be alright i'm still stocked up on unprocessed records so the shift should fly by
  13. found this cant order yet http://goodjobdog.limitedrun.com/products/598263-twiabp-ianlatd-always-foreign-12-lp-gjd-exclusive-variant-500-pre-order so keep an eye here then? http://theworldisabeautifulplace.limitedrun.com/
  14. thanks for the inside opinion, I may not have bought harmlessness 2.0 or kexp But I've got most else outside of the april fool's stuff, no need to jump off now if its anything like you say I'll enjoy it. I'll keep an eye out for preorders but im sure they will go up while I'm at work and the rarest variant will sell out, but since I was on the fence about even ordering it ill just take what I can get after I get off
  15. what label is it on? We might be of more assistance with more info, also I learned this guy has songs like "run n***** run" and "the gayest old dude that's out" gotta look at it through the lens of the time I guess but crazy what could fly for an A-side single back then (assuming the later means the happiest guy out that night but can't help but chuckle cause it sounds like something you'd hear on the internet not the title of a b-side from the 30s )
  16. can't speak on sound but as far as I know losing Derrick/Danielle/D (whatever they go by these days as to not offend anyone) is the only main change from the last album but someone who follows them closely might have insight. I honestly dunno if I'm going to hop on this one, not just cause of all the fallout but will this band be good without one of the main songwriters? Maybe I'm overstating their importance, but the song on the sorority noise split was kind of meh (I know D was still in the band for it) and I'm looking forward to the one hundred year ocean album much more
  17. If you have the /700 orange/blue for PV hit me up don't like buying the same album twice, but love this album enough to upgrade to a first pressing. May pay cash depending on what you want but would prefer a trade I guarantee you will covet something in my discogs link let me know thanks
  18. I agree with thw 2M red point and I've heard that about the DC but maybe they ironed that out no excessive hum here, I wonder if so many new owners just dont know how to properly attach a grounding clip. Also could be the speedbox stabilizing the current better on mine *shrug*
  19. kind of surprised colored remasters of the virginian and canadian amp haven't been done yet, I believe those would be the last 2 unless they want to press the cd only earlier stuff like maow or corn sisters or repress the bloodshot 7" speaking of which since this topic is bumped I finally came across the Car Songs 7" (Whiskeytown split) after a solid 7 years of searching never wanting to pay online prices, it was in pretty decent shape and a lot lower than the typical online prices ($35) had never spent that on one 7" but it's Neko and it's been on my wantlist so long
  20. you seem to have a pretty good handle on the hobby, so I won't insult you by asking what your turntable is, but perhaps it's an alignment issue, maybe rebalancing would help if the tracking is slightly off it could be causing the needle to jump around a little and making tiny marks on occasion. I just doubt it's the sleeve and either you bought them with imperfections or just slight play wear. I know a similar thing happened to me, and that ended up being the answer I needed to realign it slightly
  21. Gonna just echo and say get the acrylic platter not sure what the exact cost is as I bought an open box esprit for $489 and it came equipped but I have friends with the standard pro-ject and the acrylic is night and day, it's going to lower your surface noise considerably
  22. it can wearout but depending on the brand some have a really long lifespan. The mobile fidelity microfiber brushes really last, use one at work and it may not get daily use since we usually just spin clean and nitty gritty everything but for 45s and some particularly gunk caked records I bust it out and we haven't needed to replace it in 2 years
  23. Nothing I'm eyeing but you have some cool stock, a Metallica collector would love those 2 and the prices aren't bad if the commas are supposed to be periods like I think
