Vox?  Really.  Yes, lets vox-splain this situation.   You sure the comedy channel doesn't have a so-called news comedian to better describe the situation?

This topic is giving me such a woody.

I collected fiercely in the 1990s, in retrospect the best time possible since everybody was dumping LPs. I'd spend $100 or $200 at Jerry's in Pittsburgh or the various stores in Chicago, DC, the East Village, Vancouver, London, San Francisco ... and I'd come away with more LPs than I could carry. Sometimes I had to find a UPS drop-off before I got back on a plane. (There were no UPS Stores back then.)

The first of two kids arrived in 1999 and they took most of my time, so I've barely bought any vinyl in the last 15 years. But for her 17th birthday last year the older one got an RP-1 she can take to college ("university" for those outside the US), along with 50 or 60 duplicates from my stash. Seriously, nobody should leave home without Blood on the Tracks and Astral Weeks (green label, natch) at the very least. I've bought a few things here and there when I find nice stuff for less than $25 or even less than $20 per disk. (Seriously? $25 for a single LP? WTH?!)

I'm lucky enough to work from home, and we have a semi-finished attic, so the first shot is the view from my desk, and once or twice a day I climb into the chair to listen to one side as a break.

Rock and pop is on the left; jazz, blues, and a small batch of classical live on the right. We old guys have a lot of the gems, like the original Art Pepper on the rack to the left above the 'table. Warms my heart that so many youngsters are keeping vinyl alive.

By the way, the plural of vinyl is "vinyl." You no more pick up "vinyl" (with an s) than you pick up "fishes" at the market for dinner. Stop me gnashing my teeth. Please.

Be good, kids. Enjoy what you've got. These are good times for music, if for little else.

If anybody cares: VPI Aries I with Lyra Helikon cartridge, Rowland Capri preamp, Rowland 102 amp (for summer), Mac Mini file server with Schiit Modi Multibit DAC and two hard drives (one a mirror of the other, backed up every day at 4AM), Quicksilver Audio Silver Sixty mono amps with stock EL-34s (for the cool months), Scansonic 2.5 speakers, Sunfire sub, DIY DH Labs cabling throughout. CDs in the background are all ripped to the server now, along with about 2000 live shows by various groups, especially the Grateful Dead. Anybody want the little silver disks?

I can't stand first person shooters and most AAA's and I would not put Naughty Dog in my top ten developers. I get how people like them but the interactive movies they make are not my cup of tea at all. Granted I've really only been attracted to Japanese video game aesthetics since I got my N64 as a kid (I recently realized that 90% of the games I own and enjoy are coincidentally Japanese). There's a couple Western games I can get into but that's more like Ratchet and Clank and stuff. Not trying to start in an argument but I feel like I definitely don't fall into that Call of Duty bro camp.

Also hot damn, this new Zelda is one of the most beautiful pieces of art I have ever experienced. I hope this is a sign of what's to come from Nintendo. The Wii/Wii U era were the dark ages as far as I'm concerned.

Crash Bandicoot is one of my all-time favorites for sure, but you cannot tell me that Uncharted and TLOU are worthy of all that hype. Sure, the stories are good. But TLOU was so fucking boring until the second half. The controls are clumsy as fuck, same with Uncharted. I know all the sony fanboys love to talk about how great those games look, but they aren't really anything special outside of their graphics and narratives. Uncharted really isn't even that great of a story honestly, it's just Tomb Raider with a dude, and had it come out against the latest two Tomb Raider games, it wouldn't have nearly as much hype because those new TR games are fucking great.

I'm not saying they are terrible games, I just disagree with most of the praise. I'm currently playing the first Uncharted (PS4 version) and it's rough as fuck. I've played the first three before and didn't think they were anything special, and all I've heard about the 4th one is how pretty it is.

To put this into perspective, I've been playing the first Dark Cloud game nonstop and it's more mechanically solid than Uncharted or TLOU.

I haven't finished it, but I agree. The story is very strong, but the gameplay is repetitive for the most part. To the point that I haven't brought myself to finish it because of it.
Walk, area with enemies, sneaky beaky mode, knock out enemies, walk further, knock out more enemies, cutscene, repeat.

It is frustrating for sure. I too ordered it waaaaaayyyyyy yup ahead of time.  I had a terrible experience with Shop Radio Cast in the past, but they worked hard to correct the problem. Kudos for that. I bet the Clear w/ Smoke will look like Switchfoot's "Oh Gravity!" Clear with White Smoke. It is nice looking but one can't help but want a completely different color.

I'm a sucker, so I got a Switch. Overall, it was worth it though because Zelda is INSANE. Haven't felt this way about a game in a while, one of the most well thought out things I've ever played. I'm generally not even a huge fan of open world games, but this just does everything right for me.
