Mine shipped today (FedEx Ground).  Looks like I got everything I ordered.  My wife is not going to be pleased.

The fact people are assuming this guy is a n00b with a Crosley because he bought a record and it has surface noise is bullshit.  I have a decent table with a decent cart and guess what?  Sometimes you get a badly stamped record.  Sometimes you get a whole bad pressing.  Sometimes there is dirt and crap in the grooves when you take it out.  The guy was asking if anyone else had the same issue with that record.  Give the guy a break.

I was unpopular in my  criticism of the Co-op and now, ironically, I'm taking the unpopular stance of defending Virgil.  I don't think he set out to screw people over, he was just shortsighted in offering things that were not sustainable. As someone who has owned a business, I understand how the fungibility of money turns into borrowing Peter to pay Paul which works until there's a hiccup in the cash flow at which point it all falls apart.  This is why it's a bad idea to turn your customers into investors.  It's very much akin to shitting where you eat.  And while it doesn't feel any different to those people who lost money as someone who just set out to grab as much cash as they could before cutting bait and moving to a small island in the Caribbean, it is. 

He was a guy who overextended himself in his business endeavors and people lost some money because of it.  It was a shitty situation, but despite what may be said, he wasn't a con artist of Bernie Madoff proportions or anything.

Is it weird to collect cars if you don't have a license?  Is it weird to collect comics if you're illiterate?  The answer you're searching for is "yes".  That being said, you're supporting bands you like (WTF? Bands are charging $8 at a show for a 7"?  Really???) and there's value in that.  And if there is an endgame of you eventually owning a record player, that works, too.

Price being about equal and unless the store only has some really awful color, I'd buy it in the local store.  The color you should be buying is black, by the way.

Grabbed a Grado Silver to keep me going while searching for a MC cart/phono combo that'll really impress me. That grado punches above it's weight though. Wanted to go for the gold, but would have to wait a week for it and I was impatient.
 
To everything else in this thread, at the moment I don't see it a viable scenario that a company would make a cheaper but good sounding product and decide to sell it for less. What I'm trying to say is that in high-end audio prices are set by the end result (or higher of course), not by the production cost. So if the "y" product is on par with the "x" product, but at 20% of the cost, I'd expect (and it is a common practice today) that the price difference between the two would be maybe 5% and not 50% or more.

There are so many once great bands that have just stayed too long at the party...  Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab For Cutie, Modest Mouse...  These bands should have broken up albums ago, instead they just crap out new, worthless songs.
