bgdesign
Where'd you get the red one? https://shop.permanentrecordschicago.com/lp-ty-segall-manipulator-%282xlp-randomly-inserted-red-vinyl-one-per-customer%29/dp/78795
just a normal guy kevin
Has a cool indie band already made a run where black was the super limited variant?
Blobby
There is only a chance that it will be red. Red records are inserted randomly and there is no way to know which color you'll get before you open it. This info was confirmed by Permanent. I doubt you'd have a better chance with them than a LRS or at the shows themselves.
glass realms
Some friends talked to Ty on Sunday and he confirmed that he has red copies. Now maybe he got his copies and opened a copy that happened to be on red vinyl and he's assuming all of them are red. (I'm pretty sure Ty Segall has other things to worry about than whether his records are red vinyl or not.) Either way, I'll take the chance and get one at the show. numanoid
So there is no way of knowing if it's red? That's what I was taking away from it too. But the way they're making it limit of one per customer is a little strange. Hmmm...

Yes, I think that's the best chance we have, at the shows. Let us know!
ookowalsky
Mine was randomly inserted. They opened a copy for the listening station and it was on red. It's a record store in Cologne. I just gave them a call some hours ago. I posted my comment in the sales thread before i opened the link. I don' think that permanent can guarantee a red one. spoon
Just received red with my Drag City order, consider me relieved that I don't have to track down a second copy in store or at the shows this week.
34rpm
If that´s the point please sell me your red one then. lol you obviously didn't understand my post.
34rpm
Also, there obviously was a way to tell red from black copies as my local received all red.
timsimmons
How does your local getting all red prove there is a way tell red from black?
timsimmons
I would think whoever packed the records during production or packing was just a little less random with the colors. Like they did 5-6 red in a row because it was easier to grab them and then did a couple black because...random.
natenomm
What if black is the rare variant?
timsimmons
That would be awesome
bgdesign
I got a red from Permanent Records. They have had black records in the mix. No guarantee or way to tell the difference.
numanoid
Well, hopefully my luck changes. It's been shit lately, so I'm sure this is no different. I am, however, relieved that this is luck of the draw. If there was a buddy system in place for certain stores, I would be irritated. I'll find one, I hope. And who knows, the red and black may have identical numbers. Either way, that red really suits the LP. Also, to anyone who has a store with all red, I'm willing to paypal you extra for your trouble of grabbing one for me. I'm sure there are stores out there opening them. youspinmeround
wait, did anyone get one red and one black?
natenomm
wait, did anyone get one red and one black? Limited 1/2 variant. One has a black A/B and red C/D and the other has the opposite.
kamalatapes
Limited 1/2 variant. One has a black A/B and red C/D and the other has the opposite. Went down to Mtheory here in San Diego tonight... There was like 8 copies even near closing. Havent felt this way since buying my official 18 y/o scratchers many many years ago. I scored the black variant, I'm just telling myself that at least it matches all my Drag City releases color wise. Also! Tim can you confirm whether or not the red variant is 180grams? Someone posted that earlier on instagram. The black def isn't 180. I think thats the only way Id be upset is if thr two pressings at the same price point were different weight wise. Fantastic Burnt Orange labels though! I'm interested in a red copy still PM if you're willing to sell down the road. @glassrealms I wonder how FYF fans were treated? My buddies were too high to find me a copy but I feel like of course Ty would have the red ones. Even if they were "randomly" placed.
