8ight
So I have a newfound appreciation for Tim Hecker. I've had Harmony in Ultraviolet for a little while now and liked it enough, but I was never head-over-heels for it. The other day I decided to listen to it again, but with headphones. I think it 'clicked.' I did the same the following day, and yesterday I decided to try the album again through my speakers. Two minutes in, I grabbed the headphones. The album demands them, at least for me (I don't have an ideal listening space since it's a studio apartment and I try to be very reasonable with the volume). But yea. I want want more Hecker albums now; I'm hooked on this one.
Derek™
Man, once Hecker clicks there really is no going back. Ravedeath would be an excellent step for you. Strap on those headphones, lay back in the dark with no distractions, and get lost in those blankets of drone. 8ight

nelso330
haven't seen anyone recommend, CHRISTINA VANTZOU (she is on Kranky records and makes amazing electronic orchestral arrangements) I am in process of making a large recommendation list, will break into classical, experimental, and electronic to help out! Also if you like very ambient drone check out the label: Hibernate http://hibernaterecordings.bandcamp.com Pretty much every release is solid, with a few exceptions of course. Ian Hawgood I believe is the master mind behind most of it! Seafinch and eskimoswim

nelso330
Forced exposure is another! But sonic pieces vinyl your pretty much limited to their shop (since they are so limited and sell out in hours or less than day) the new Deaf Center however is not limited (as much) and is poping up on places like boomkat (which has pretty decent shipping to USA) always looking to find best rates as most stuff I love are imports! Beepsnboops
Kranky is killing it. Also, not sure if it was mentioned already, but http://www.omgvinyl.com blogs about ambient/drone stuff often. They also do metal, so it's not all ambient. Specifically wondering if there are any shops in the US that stock Serein and Sonic Pieces stuff. Mimaroglu, Tomentosa, Mount Analog and Fusetron all stock these genres. Not sure about those two labels specifically though.
