jtcohenour
According to the Swellers facebook page the band is calling it quits. Here is what the band had to say: We had our first band practice twelve years ago today. It's been an amazing run. Booking some farewell shows soon. Thank you. Brock N Roll
Not surprising at all. Band never got the recognition they deserved.
thejesseb
Not surprising at all. Band never got the recognition they deserved. Yup. Bummed to hear about this. This is one of those bands that had every reason to be huge but just never were. omik11303, nothnks and jtcohenour
jtcohenour
I saw them last November in a little club in Omaha. They killed it and were really nice guys. I wish them all the best.
dapeebs
Saw them last year on the ernie ball stage I think at warped. Havent really given them an honest listen. Such a shame.
serum7
They're great guys, but you could see this coming from a mile away. I said a few months ago that I didn't see them sticking around much longer. You could tell from the tone in their social media posts. You can only put your heart into something with no return for so long. Wish them nothing but the best. The Light Under Closed Doors was a hell of a way to end it.

Shitty Rambo
Wish them nothing but the best. The Light Under Closed Doors was a hell of a way to end it. I agree, easily my most favorite by them. It's still very sad nonetheless. jtcohenour

soundboard
this. i'm amazed they went as long as they did. and i felt like, after every album, maybe they'd "catch their break", but no such luck. huge bummer all around. Yeah. Tons of bands go down that way. For some reason when I was reading through this and thinking about how they just couldn't catch their big break the band Over It popped into my head as another one of those that for some reason never caught on the way they should of. At least they went out on a really strong album. Probably my favorite of theirs.

At least they went out on a really strong album. Probably my favorite of theirs. definitely. as far bands "in the scene" go, i think such gold will be the next to go. just a feeling... one i wish i didn't have, too. omik11303
Damn. This is such a shame. This band put out so, so many great tunes but, like everybody's already said, they never seemed to catch on like they should've. "My Everest" and "Ups and Downsizing" will always be the best for me. nothnks
It was really easy to see coming post-TLUCD, and the idea of it always being there was depressing, especially because they were one of few real bands left in the scene, and one of my favorite bands They were the realest guys, and really enjoyed doing what they did, and I wish they had caught on, they deserved it. At least The Light Under Closed Doors was as good as it was. A hell of an album to go out on. RIP
sjb2k1
their last album got me into the band (just never listened before that). bummer.
agua
I remember seeing them play a small show up the street from my house as they promoted My Everest. Jammed that album. Didn't see them again until they played with TEN and TWY. For a band I always told people about, it's said to see them go. I have to catch them on their farewell. McCandless
Saw them recently and they were great live. Sounded good on record too but they just never had that song/album that stuck with me and made me come back to it more than once.

vitriol
I'm extremely bummed by this. My wife and I had our first date at a Swellers show in San Francisco at Bottom of the Hill 5 years ago. Hope to catch them one more time. My Everest will always have a special place in my heart. A_Boring_Story and nothnks
