Rapidfiretollbooth
Indie-rap mainstay Aesop Rock has announced his new album, The Impossible Kid, dropping April 29th on Rhymesayers Entertainment, marking his first solo venture since 2012’s Skelethon. On the new album, Aesop continues finding new ways to improve on the skills that have made him one of the kings of indie hip-hop. His creative process now includes a newfound willingness to open up about his personal life, going deep on topics like depression, his sometimes rocky relationship with his family, and the turbulent handful of years following a friend’s death that culminated in Aesop leaving his adopted home of San Francisco to live in a barn out in the woods, where he recorded the foundations of The Impossible Kid. There’s also moments of levity though, as Aesop taps into the funny side of his persona that he suppressed during the period where being taken as a serious lyricist was more of a priority. Like Skelethon, Aesop exercised complete creative control over every aspect of the album, from the production (which he handled himself, with instrumental help from Philly’s Grimace Federation) to conceptualizing the cover art by his friend Alex Pardee. Vinyl Packaging includes 2xLP Green & Pink Neon Colored Vinyl, Custom Die Cut Jacket, 3’x4’ Double Sided Fold Out Poster, Two Illustrated Record Sleeves, Full Album Lyrics & Free Digital Download Card. All orders will receive a digital download of the full album including bonus tracks “Syrup feat. Homeboy Sandman & Open Mike Eagle” &“Dorks [blockhead Remix]” at midnight of release. jonnystorm777
I need this. Aesop Rock is one of the best lyricists ever! Sad he doesn't get as much attention as these crappy Kanye style rappers!

djghost1976
The color design of the vinyl with the cover art is great. Alex Pardee is the man.
mappingtheyears
New song is solid. I'll definitely be picking this up sooner or later.
seafoamgreen
So stoked. Wish shipping wasn't $8.75 for a 2XLP though... to wait for Amazon or pay a few extra bucks for a signed insert?

throughbeingcruel
Fifth Element prices are kinda rough. May ask if the local will order this for me cuz they always have Rhymesayer's stuff.
dack
By far the best rapper I've seen live (during the Skelethon tour). Really feeling the new single, too. That vinyl is beautiful, but the shipping is high, so might have to wait for Amazon...
ejc625
Ugh. $40 after a $10 shipping fee.
briculla05
Looking forward to this, but that cover is terrible.
Muppelope
I actually like the cover, but as others have said, that shipping price is a bit steep. Not really feelin' this one.
esbe
One of my all-time favorites, so stoked about the new record. I'll be waiting for reasonable shipping though.
cambionic
I was just about to get this and then I got to the shitty shipping screen and realize why I never order from 5thElement.

B-dosia
Fifth Element prices are kinda rough. May ask if the local will order this for me cuz they always have Rhymesayer's stuff. I Love Slug and think it's great he opened a music store for the peeps, but 5th Element is the worst. They like the SRC of hip-hop

Could do without maybe 2 or 3 tracks but the rest is really really good
seafoamgreen
Just got my copy from Amazon and, in case there was any question, it's the colored vinyl just like the Fifth Element pics. Shrinkwrap jacked the super cool gatefold a bit though. Not Amazon's fault, just not enough paper at the top opening on the die cut.
NapalmBrain
are people liking it more than Skelethon? The only albums I really like are Labor Days, None Shall Pass and Float

I've loved pretty much everything Aes has put out (not a huge fan of Bazooka Tooth). I dug Impossible Kid from the first listen, but it still took a while for some of the tracks to grow on me. Probably going to be AOTY for me
