coldsnap
lol, i said Montreal would win in 4 games? didn't know that. i think you are the one that is high. Re-read what I said. You would do best to be sure you read something correctly. I said 4 games in seven tries. And if you don't think Montreal is going to win four games, then you're right. yeah, i misreaded it. habs were on a good momentum at halfway through the 3rd period until gorges took a penalty and bruins scored. fuck
destroyingthescene
Really enjoying the Hawks/Flames game right now. I'm cheering for the hawks, but I don't think they have what it takes to get 4 wins on Calgary. I hope I'm wrong, but the Flames are built for the postseason and I think they'll wear down the Hawks over the course of the series.
adammuzzy
canadiens are still going to win. the bruins suck ass in the playoffs. they played like shit tonight like they always do in the playoffs. also, everyone knows the bruins can't beat the habs in the playoffs. and if they somehow do, bruins aren't making it past round 2. Those are some mighty strong words for a guy that went ahead and second guessed himself. And since 1988, the Bruins and Canadiens have met in the playoffs 7 times (not counting this season). The Bruins hold the superior record, having won 4 of those 7 series....just like they're going to win 4 of these 7 games. Do some research before you flap your gums. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but at least make it a valid one.
crime
Lapierre is such a piece of shit sore loser. the habs don't even belong in the playoffs. even though i chara i seriously hope boston sweeps. in other news the wings were just too much for columbus. osgood looked great tonight and if he keeps it up columbus doesn't have a chance. the wings are just too strong of a team for the blue jackets. but then again teams that ride a hot goalie (mason) into the playoffs never do well. sgoodcore
If the Wings get goaltending the whole shape of the playoffs change.
crime
if osgood steps up and can perform like he did last year they're going to repeat. there's no question about it. the only thing standing between the wings and the cup is goaltending. ps. the team that makes it to the cup from the west will win the cup. the east really doesn't have a team that can stand up to the strongest team in the west. alexis
Habs are probably gonna loose but I don't thnk Boston will make it to the final. I have a feeling that the Rangers will. I hate Lucic (like for real) but I would still love to see him play against Avery to see how things would turn out. Lapierre does what he has to do on the ice. Amazing player that will become an impact player in the league.
crime
they tanked to get malkin, fluery, whitney, and even stall. crosby was gift wrapped to them. i remember the pens pre-lockout because i've always been a flyers fan. they were a joke for half a decade. that's all i'm saying. Since 1990 only two teams have been in the playoffs more than the Penguins. Detroit and New Jersey -- that's all I'm saying Detroit is also the last team to win back to back cups. and if they don't win the cup this year this will be the first decade in nhl history that a team hasn't won back to back cups. Looks like Carcillo got himself suspended. Cammalleri should get a suspension as well for his shot on Havlat but he won't. Lapierre does what he has to do on the ice. Amazing player that will become an impact player in the league. taking a cheapshot at a player who just scored an empty net goal is doing what he has to do? i don't think so. that's just being a bitch who can't lose. brad
KP - i said from 2001 - lockout. crime - can't argue that the west wins the cup again this year. the top 3-4 teams in the west are stacked i am beyond shocked that carcillo is suspended for a game. what a joke. i've seen the replay of the incident and it just looks like carcillo's hand clipped talbot and then talbot fell like he got shot. funny how once the buzzer rings talbot jumps up like nothing happens. carcillo is quoted as saying the ref told him not to do anything, and yet he is still going to hit him with his stick? talbot of course has no comment. also funny how guerin avoids an instigation penalty at the end of the game. and about the big gay nhl - isn't "message sending" a part of a 7 game series? intimidation is found in all sports, and that is loved by the fans as well. as long as it doesn't go overboard and someone gets hurt "message sending" is part of the game/playoffs. swankymodes
Looks like Carcillo got himself suspended. Good riddance... too bad it was only one game.
brad
at this point the flyers are going to have trade carcillo. the league has a bullseye on his back. no conspiracy theory just observations. since he's dressed for the flyers i've seen a ton questionable calls against him. it's sad. the guy works hiss ass off and was actually starting to play a lot better for the flyers but he has no future in the nhl. what a shame. brad
also Cammalleri's shot was worse than carcillo, no suspension. what about the message sending at the end of the B's/Hab's game? i'm going out on a limp to predict 0 suspensions. again, i'm really not trying to be a conspirator, but come on. suburbanargyle
also Cammalleri's shot was worse than carcillo, no suspension. Agreed, it was a lot more blatant.

forgeagain
Didn't see Cammalleri's shot on Havlat and I was at the game. Did it happen behind the play or something? Amazing Hawks winner. They played like complete shit for the first 30 or so and still came away up 1-0. There's no way Calgary is winning this series. The Hawks have their number. kirbypuckett
According to an article I just read, the ref. told Carcillo not to do anything stupid. Then he went and did something stupid. Honestly, him being out of the lineup is a plus for the Flyers. I have to skip tonight's game because I'm seeing Ted Leo and the New Pornographers for free. Hopefully I can catch it on Pens rewind at 11.
swankymodes
Looks like Luca Sbisa is gonna dress tonight for the Flyers, playing forward to replace Carcillo. I know he's normally a D-Man, but I like the sounds of this.
drabley
drabley's draft day diamonds (vol 3) Pavel Datsyuk Position: Center Draft year: 1998 Round: 6 Overall: 171 Team: Detroit Red Wings Miikka Kiprusoff Position: Goaltender Draft year: 1995 Round: 5 Overall: 116 Team: San Jose Sharks **There were 10 Goaltenders drafted before Kiprusoff that year. None of them are better -- most are horrible. From top to bottom: JS Giguere (Hartford), M. Biron (Buffalo), B. Boucher (Philadelphia), M. Denis (Colorado), A. MacDonald (Florida), P. Schafer (Boston), S. Roche (St. Louis), JS Aubin (Pittsburgh), M. Minard (Edmonton), V. Toskala (San Jose). Evgeni Nabokov Position: Goaltender Draft year: 1994 Round: 9 Overall: 219 Team: San Jose Sharks **In the 94 and 95 drafts, San Jose selected what would become 3 top flight goaltenders (Toskala, Kiprusoff, Nabokov). The worst of the three, Toskala, was drafted highest (5th round). Not bad, if you ask me. And lastly: Patrick Roy Position: Goaltender Draft year: 1984 Round: 3 Overall: 51 Team: Montreal Canadiens **New Jersey passed up on Roy in favor of Craig Billington, as did Edmonton in favor of Daryl Reaugh (whose carrer behind the mic far outshines his career between the pipes). D'oh!
kirbypuckett
I'm too busy to look it up now (and this post might just be a reminder for myself), but I'm curious as to who Detroit drafted in the rounds prior to Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Looks like Luca Sbisa is gonna dress tonight for the Flyers, playing forward to replace Carcillo. I know he's normally a D-Man, but I like the sounds of this. I know nothing about Sbisa, but Therrien used to play D-Men on the wing when they were under performing on defense. The results weren't pleasant. Whitney, Gologoski, Orpik, and I believe Letang all played on the wing at some point. It sent a good message to the players, but they looked a bit lost out there. I hated it when he did it to Gologoski, as a rookie it really messed w/ his game.

During a face off -- behind the linesman's back. Ref's don't pay attention during face offs, usually. Sucker punched him right in the jaw. And if Calgary can play their game and keep the Hawks from sprinting back and forth at full tilt, Calgary is the better team. But judging by the last half of the 2nd and 3rd last night, that's no easy feat.
drabley
Detroit 98 Draft Selections: 1. Jiri Fischer (D) 2. Ryan Barnes (LW) 2. Tomek Valtonen (LW) 3. Jake McCracken (G) 4. Brent Hobday (LW) 5. Calle Steen (R/LW) 6. Adam Deleeuw (LW) 6. Pavel Datsyuk © Zetterberg was 99 draft and Detroit didn't have a pick until the 4th round that year. 4. Jari Tolsa 5. Andrei Maximenko 6. Kent McDonell 7. Henrik Zetterberg

drabley
if carsillo got suspended then multiple habs players should be suspended regarding the ending of last nights Boston/Canada game. Nobody should get suspended in the playoffs unless you pull a Todd Bertuzzi. I'm disappointed with all of the half-baked penalties I've been seeing. This is the time of year to take off the skirts and get it done.

While I don't want a pansy league, things have to be policed before things get a little too far out of hand -- especially at the end of a game. In Pittsburgh we have fond memories of Adam Graves' slash w/ intent to injure on Mario Lemieux -- would hate to see that happen to any player.
