casey
I didn't post this in the Vinyl Collective thread, because it could include CDs, but move it if you feel you must. Generally I can't go to sleep with records with a lot of lyrics, because I end up singing them in my head instead of going to sleep. There are some exceptions, though. My Top 5 going to sleep records are: The Twilight Sad: Fourteen Autumns, Fifteen Winters The Weakerthans: Left & Leaving Fleetwood Mac: Rumours Beck: Sea Change Wilco: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Whachu got? littlejonnyhormone
This is always a big debate for me. Some nights I can fall asleep to calm stuff. I've fallen asleep to The Lawrence Arms' Greatest Story Ever Told a few nights in a very depressed state. I don't get it. You think, "hey, sleep, I should listen to something calm," but that's not always the case. Its fucking difficult. Some nights you just need quiet. I'm sure i read something about this, it depends on how familiar you are with the album, if it's your first listen then your brain will be concentrating without realising, and staying awake, otherwise it can relax. casey
Great call on The Twilight Sad by the way, I need to find that LP. They have a new record coming out in September. 14A, 15W was really hard to find, but you can some of their vinyl here: http://fat-cat.co.uk/fatcat/store.php On a semi-related note, I fall asleep to Frightened Rabbit a lot as well. xjustinxschwierx
when not using DVD commentary tracks or stand up/spoken word records these two are pretty ultimate chill out to sleep records...
hickey
I can't have music playing when I fall asleep. No TV either. When I was in college, if I came home drunk I would throw on Weezer's blue ablum and fall asleep to that.
