Exactly what I always thought about this band. I remember looking up videos for some live stuff when i first heard them and loved every minute of it, regardless of the way it sounded. Man thats awesome. I think it would be so cool to see them for free. I guess for me i wouldn't personally call it sloppy. And to be completely honest I cant explain why. There is something inside me that just purely enjoys when certain bands play there songs completely different and unexpected from the album. Very few bands can get away with this crazy style of energy like that a only a few come to mind like: Old nirvana shit and dillinger escape plan. I dont know me personally when I see dillinger I am not sitting there thinking Damn it he missed that one section. But on the other hand certain bands I want to be completely tight and clean. Maybe I am just weird.
jerseydave77
ATDI were always about small venues for me. Once they started hitting a stage where you weren't close to eye-level it just didn't feel the same. My fear is that these guys feel so much more serious than they used to be. ATDI shows were so much fun, an experience - not just a tight set. Hopefully if they are going to do this that old feeling can still come out but if it's just festivals I somehow doubt it. For those that never saw them, this is great news. Have some fun. I'll stick with my memories on this one. what if... and it's a BIG if... they played maxwells? would you go? Ha ha. Probably not. Haven't been to Maxwells since I got in a huge fight at a Drive By Truckers Show a million years ago. Now, the Stone Pony or Asbury Lanes? Maybe. But really, the prospect of meatheads and frat boys showing to a reunion tour of this band makes me wonder if I'd bother.

suburbanargyle
Saw them in 99 opening for Rage Against The Machine. They kinda blew RATM off the stage I thought, and RATM weren't bad at all. ATDI were just so energetic. Damn.

deafmx
I saw ATDI open for Get Up Kids in a small cafe in 99. blew me the fuck away. bought in/casino/out and Vaya on cd right after. too bad my dumbass didn't get the vinyl of each instead. I saw them a couple more times after and they were always good. I can't see them reuniting but I'd still enjoy it in any setting.
kriss
The more I think about it, the more I think I'm going to bite the bullet and get a 1 day pass for Lolla to see them. I'd prefer a smaller venue but if news doesn't come of that in the next few months, I'll just get a couple of passes before they shoot up in price. I say do it, you're already in Chicago and Lolla can be a lot of fun. Edit: Unless they are doing a 'shows' like the link above hints. Hold off until they announce the aftershows/afterparties. Chances are they'll do a Congress or Metro gig. Get your mouse clicking finger ready for that morning, though. albert
Get your mouse clicking finger ready for that morning, though. That is exactly what I thought as soon as I found out that they got back together. I thought scalpers are going to take a shit over everyone. I hate scalpers so much. cesar11
fuck these guys. "As our ship prepares for voyage, we announce that Jim Ward will not be joining us on future journeys. We wish him well and are excited to see you soon.” https://www.facebook.com/ATDImusic/posts/854429451345859 Stravinsky
dantheriver
Seriously a shady move but LOL at anyone who thought they were going to see the real ATDI at this point, with or without Jim Ward.
controlthebleeding
Seriously a shady move but LOL at anyone who thought they were going to see the real ATDI at this point, with or without Jim Ward. well they did it before, so it wast out of the realm of possibility. they are just basically phoning it in. watching them play several years back was like watching your dad's rock cover band play at the local pizza joint.. ronniegwilliams
I have zero interest in seeing them sans Ward; considering he was a fundamental songwriter/vocalist for the band. At this point, it just seems like they're pulling the whole classic rock band playing a greatest hits set to make an easy paycheck. No thanks. controlthebleeding
ptothedo
I'm not surprised, but it's disappointing. Wouldn't surprised if they didn't finish the tour either.
