kriss
this list would have been more accurate if they weren't numbered. at the least, it reminded me to download a few things i havent heard in years. and yeah, we all get it... "this isnt real emo... this stuff that no one else has ever heard of is real emo". but this here is the most common perception of what the emo genre was. doesn't mean it's the proper perception. I get that some folks are all 'genre limitations are stupid' but it's like walking into a pizzeria in the middle of Queens, looking at a thin crust Margherita pie and going "yeah, I'd like a piece of that stuffed pizza right there!". Music is music and that's fine, but calling something a thing when it's in no way representative of that is the issue that's been at hand for so long. hudsoncomplex
SDRE - Seven is one of my favourite songs. Ever.
somethingvinyl
So far I've seen nobody complaining about the fucking Used being on this list. What's remotely emo about any song those assholes did? Fuck anyone who thought emo was about being emotional.
adictsdroog1
This. And why is Alkaline Trio lumped into the same list as Coheed? 13 year old me just getting into punk and still kind of listening to emo would still punch this critic for this list. you listened to emo BEFORE punk? O_O Actually yes, and now I play stnd up bass and listen to psychobilly. i travel the roads less paved. I confuse my own ears sometimes
almightyseancore
i got no beef against psychobilly, the whole psyscobilly/steampunk movement is pretty big here in saint louis. anyone in this town with an interest in live music or punk rock has been exposed to plenty of it. riddle350
I can't believe that Boysetsfire made a top list of emo songs. There are some good songs on here but most of it is so random.
Guest mellietronx
I don't like this.
magicpanda
I get disgusted with some of these "emo" lists.
donlombardo
Hahaha. Jawbreaker was indeed on there though. I laughed when NFG came up. It's been a summer. haha.

Guest mellietronx
Since when is Death Cab emo? Wait. I thought they were metal since their name has the word Death in it.

idreamofpunk
On the "genre limitations are stupid" bit, if people didn't get so caught up in genre, there would be no laughs to sit back and get when everyone got all up in arms about how so and so "isn't _______" whenever a list like this is put up. So I guess genre is good for something?
smailtronic
So far I've seen nobody complaining about the fucking Used being on this list. That Box of Sharp Objects song was big around the time that alot of the other mainscreamo songs on this list were popular. There are more than a few "tangentially related to emo" bands and songs on this list.
claytin269
Matt Pryor was ripping this list pretty hard last night in sf. What was funny though is he said he was on it 3 times and proceeded to play those three songs from lowest rank to highest. It was pretty cool to hear "Idaho" for once. His last song was "I'll catch you" and he thought that was his best emo song. He also said Helena was a good song and MCR pays James well so he can't say anything bad about them haha. Zick
Since when is Death Cab emo? Wait. I thought they were metal since their name has the word Death in it. That's what I thought. I listened to a couple songs expecting something like American Football but instead I got something that sounded like Venom. What a letdown
