Nah, man. Me and you, people who buy records to listen to Sabbath, Dylan, Bowie, Nirvana, Young, real stuff, we have to keep it going. I want to keep collecting till I die, or murder a hot topic kid by cutting his dead off with a My Little Pony LP.

Yeah, you're right. I just get so frustrated sometimes with this shit.

The cash cow will die, and vinyl will go to what it was in the 90s and early 2000's, and we can all enjoy our normal stuff. No way I'd ever give it up, unless they start mastering new records with low DR ratings. Fuck the loudness war. It's the worse thing about music in the last 20 years.

I wish "remastered" wasn't such a troublesome word these days. I go into a shop and see remastered and I immediately come to a fork in the road. This record is either going to sound amazing, and will be spun a lot, or the loudness war won again, and I'm out money. Sad. For example, those remastered Nevermind 20th Anniversary 180g 4xLP "Remastered" $80 reissues. I bought the black version and the studio "remastered" album sounds like shit, but I wanted all the B sides, demos, smart sessions etc. Good thing they reissued the 180g Pallas pressing a little while ago. Even worse was the picture disk version. So fucking loud, you wouldn't believe. But at least we are smart enough not to buy picture disks. But yeah, anyway, seeing remastering on a gatefold always makes me worried. Hopefully that'll end soon. It's been like 20 damn years. Shit needs to stop.

Oh I hear you, dude. That shit is infuriating. I guess it's that way with all vinyl related stuff really. This site is awesome half the time, and so damn maddening the other half of the time. Awesome for small talk, staying on top of pre orders, record talk, but then you get to see idiots talk about what shitty pop punk band is best from people who don't have any knowledge of what real music is, and people yelling at Travis for what shitty hardcore album for HT to repress. You have serious music enthusiasts who stay up till 2AM for pre orders, who have memories connected to each record they have purchased, who invest time, money, and effort to listen to amazing music, and appreciate it. Then you have these assholes who buy a record, go outside, put the thing in the grass to take a picture of it to get IG likes. Ugh.

It's a love / hate relationship, that's for damn sure.

Whenever you feel pissed off at it all, all the commercialism, all the bullshit, just go to Mississippi Records, bring some cash, and walk out with a staple of a punk album like Minor Threat for $12, and smile. Then trash your living room as you spin "Seeing Red".

I agree, seeing remastered is a scary thing. I try my best to see other people's opinions on it before buying anything, even if they cite the source of the remaster. You can remaster an album from the original tapes for vinyl, but that does not mean they didn't bump the loudness up.

Pictures discs are the worst. Gimmicky, terrible pieces of plastic. They are barely over a lathe cut record.

The vinyl world has become a strange place since it gained in popularity the past few years. I hate seeing the "What albums do you want pressed?" thread. That terrible album you listened to once in high school, that has so much nostalgia, does not need pressed on vinyl. Go buy the used CD for a penny, will sound the same.

Edit: I do get that everyone has their own taste in music, and I respect that, but some times the kiddies pop punk talk gets on my nerves. We (mostly) all listen to shitty music at one point in our lives, before growing and developing into our own.

I hate picture discs. And that's even putting aside the audio quality. They are ugly, and gimmicky, and a waste. Thankfully I don't own a single one. And nothing I want has only been pressed to just picture disc. Fuck, I take that back. The only one I own is a 7" of Live Freaky Die Freaky, but my lady bought that. So I guess I'm in the clear.

Yeah, I hate nostalgia albums. Just backing up the plants, keeping them from pressing actual albums that need to be heard. The funny thing is, the people who want those albums pressed don't even really spin records as a way to listen to music. They just buy them cause they think it's "cool". Nope.

Like you said before, instagram likes. Seems like a huge waste to me, but maybe I'm just getting old now that I'm pushing 30. Fuck, even when I was young there was no way I'd buy something I couldn't enjoy.

I really don't get the Mega Man record. An 8bit midi sounds like shit on a shitty TV speaker, so it's got to be even worse on a decent system. It'll be even worse with pops and clicks from their crosley. Just a cash grab on the remastered games I bet. Again nostalgia too I guess.

Side note: I just watched Suburban Gothic. It was pretty good, and the ending credits song was Dead Milkmen. Pretty good dark comedy. Plus Kat Dennings is a babe. Check it  out.

I'll add it to the list!

I just try to ignore that stuff because it'll just make me mad going into the thread.  Just because something can be put on vinyl, doesn't mean it should be.  That's a total novelty release and I'd be surprised if many of them are listened to more than a handful of times.

Video Game OSTs are really cool for vinyl releases, in my opinion. Maybe not if the music is still in MIDI format, but like a string/orchestral version video game music is something that's very amazing to listen to if you love the game/soundtrack and having it on vinyl would be very heartwarming to me.

But I do agree it's a bit strange to just have chiptune sounds on wax.
