andrewlucas
Damn. =/ I was going to order them all today with my co workers card since he owes me $100. I'll just have to buy the gold off ebay. At least I ordered the others.

mattisr1984
I just heard the whole thing. am I the only one not into this?? :/ the trailer got me kind of excited. i dont like the artwork though - not that it should really matter.
deletedunknown
I just heard the whole thing. am I the only one not into this?? :/ Where have you heard it? My opinion so far is the same as it's been. Underwhelmed by Tropics, but I think it needs to be heard in the context of the album (and mastered, of course) to judge. Patagonia drew me in pretty effectively. And the trailer left me even more excited. I'm betting that this album will have a smattering of sweet spots, but will be overall more of a grower. octave
The real opaque gold vinyl tends to be very noisy to me. Has anyone else experiences this?
cesar11
a friend of mine is good friends with Shaun Lopez and he gave him a copy. I went over and he was playing it and...I don't know. Just not what I was expecting?
IG88
from what I've heard in the trailer and such, it's less isis-ish (maybe less than people are hoping for?). which is good for me, heard enough isis. it's seems more like windmills by the ocean with chino making some noises overtop. which I can totally back. still really excited for this one. mcpherson123
I was really wondering which gold they were referring to. I feel like tre is the only one who considers former to be a type of "gold" vinyl. This is what United's "Gold" looks like: So no horrible opaque gold. Good things. yancey47
I'm interested in this but ipecac does a shit job with vinyl.

yancey47
Melvins - Nude With Boots was warped. The tomahawk box set is cheap and flimsy.
mcpherson123
I'll agree with the Tomahawk set though I know nothing of the Melvins title. I don't think that it is particularly Ipecac's fault, at least not completely. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with their distributor Fontana Distribution but Ipecac put out Isis - Wavering Radiant and that was far from a cheap production. It also has to do with how active the band is in deciding what the trimmings and options will be for their release. There's no guarantee that this Palms release will have any of the same shortcomings (or any other ones) of the releases you mentioned just because they're on the same label. I'm going to trust, because Isis have always had quality vinyl releases, that this one will follow suit. I guess we'll have to wait and see. deletedunknown
All the Isis releases I have handled by Ipecac are excellent. I'd imagine they will put the same effort in for Palms.
radiatorhums
I haven't had any complaints with Ipecac's vinyl releases, but I think I only have Isis ones.
mcpherson123
The thing about Isis vinyl is that basically all of it with the exception of the domestic vinyl edition of Wavering Radiant has been liscensed by other labels for vinyl releases. Robotic Empire, Escape Artist, Level Plane, Trust No One, Daymare, Conspiracy and Second Nature have all been responsible for culminating their pre-Wavering (and a few of them handling foreign editions of Wavering) catalog on vinyl so you can't really judge Ipecac on those. It's been the liscensing labels in question who have been footing the bill for the vinyl productions of each prior album so they would be taking part in the decisions and I imagine the band has been making decisions in participation with them in some or all cases. radiatorhums
Ipecac put out Isis - Temporal on vinyl too, I thought that was well done.
deletedunknown
I was referencing Wavering Radiant and Temporal. Two positive examples to the two negatives brought up. I'd further counter the two negatives by dismissing the melvins release as bad luck unless yancey went through several warped copies. Also the Tomahawks box set was made light weight to keep it an affordable bulk release.
mcpherson123
I get you guys. I forgot all about Temporal. I haven't gotten a copy yet so I don't know what its like but I haven't heard any complaints.
andi
What's with (The) Melvins - Trilogy? Wasn't that handled by them as well? I haven't had one in hand, so I can't say anything about it, qualitywise. Anyone?
octave
What's with (The) Melvins - Trilogy? Wasn't that handled by them as well? I haven't had one in hand, so I can't say anything about it, qualitywise. Anyone? I think it's well done, especially for pic discs. But it's just a tri-fold not the heaviest cover but good enough. Can't complain for $50.
andrewlucas
Is anyone else going to any of the shows?

I'd recommend grabbing it. It's reasonably priced and has quite a bit of content, some of which is unavailable elsewhere.
yancey47
All that's fair. I've personally just been let down a couple times.
