Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying) Arrested

Recommended Posts

A heavy-metal band singer accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill his wife was ordered to be held on $3 million bail Thursday.

Tim Lambesis, 32, lead singer of the band As I lay Dying, pleaded not guilty to one count of solicitation of murder at his arraignment in Vista Superior Court.

His family, fans, band manager and band lawyer packed the courtroom, and many wrote letters to the judge in anticipation of the hearing.

The prosecutor argued that Lambesis be held on $20 million bail, citing the musician’s wealth and global connections, but his defense attorney argued that the amount was unreasonable. If he bails out, he was ordered to stay away from his wife and their three children.

"Deputy District Attorney Claudia Grasso, who had asked for bail as high as $20 million, told the judge that the couple’s relationship suffered a major blow in August of last year when Tim Lambesis was on tour with his band. He sent an email to his wife saying he no longer loved her and did not want to be with her anymore.

He also wrote in the email that he no longer believed in God, the prosecutor said.

The wife learned that Lambesis had been having affairs with other women. She filed for divorce in September, citing “irreconcilable differences” and alleging that her husband had become obsessed with bodybuilding and going to the gym. She said in court documents that she was concerned about her husband’s ability to care for their children."

Sounds like someone from his gym turned him in

On Thursday, prosecutors said a recording exists of Lambesis giving the officer an envelope with cash, home gate codes and pictures of Meggan, alleging the musician told the officer to kill her while he was with their children in order to establish an alibi.

Not good at all

According to San Diego's CBS 8 News, prosecutors in the case initially asked that Lambesis' bail be set at $20 million, saying the singer was both a flight risk and a danger to the public. The alleged target of the plot, Lambesis' wife Meggan, told the judge she feared for her life and was unsure if there were additional hits put out on her.

Lambesis' attorney disputed those claims, saying his client did not intend to harm anyone and calling the case the result of a "scumbag snitch setup."

Definitely tough seeing this unfold. Was a huge fan of these guys growing up and still am.

Hard to swallow seeing this type of behavior come from someone who used to be so positive.

Yeah this really does hit hard. This band got me into playing guitar and into the "metal" scene for a while. Shame.
