scentofdeath
Thought I'd start a thread for Ambient and Experimental (electronic, minimal, drone, vocal, etc) music, so if anyone is a fan or is interested in this stuff, please post your new discoveries, likes, recommendations, and why not, purchases, collections and new album alerts. The purpose is mainly to discover new ambient and experimental artists, that I'm sure are so many and may never come across them, as well as old stuff that you or I may never hear. Anything from Moebius, Eno, to Lustmord, Diamanda, and...insert new artists here... Go! daegor

sonsofvipers
I like that this thread exists also, Hammock recently released their album Maybe They Will Sing For Us Tomorrow, which is one of my favorite ambient albums, on vinyl. it's kind of pricey, but the packaging is very well put together, it's remastered, and the vinyl is very solid and sounds incredible. I like that this thread exists Hammock was first for me via the old ATPR page in the postrock section. Their Ambient thread was quite voluminous: Eluvium and Helios were big hitters, and American Dollar -- I did the total anthology thing from them a while back at is more than $10, maybe $20, but still great. Then, my son's college roommate said check The Angelic Process after we started talking Deathconsciousness (nod to Derek ) here. Heavy duty, I was hooked. While checking TAP out (ambient-drone-metaldoomgaze), saw a RIYL for NADJA. Baker is so prolific, and I have found about 1/4 to 1/3 to hit my like button, and it's all kind of in the same vein, prob, just one long 6 hr drone. But other stuff esp. his collabs, just don't do it for me. Totally subjective. Mentioned this to my friend Forbenator above who said, check out "birds of passage" Winter Lady and Highway Men.., Alicia Merz from NZ collab with Baker. Dark and mesmerizing whispered vocals...I bought ALL of her stuff on mp3 and picking up wax along the way. That's enough for now... just to make it through Nadja's discography has taken me months and still working on it...
