If you "generate" back to zero you aren't a hero (rhyming intentional) He generated half a million dollars in revenue, and revenue is also a very important stat to take to a board of directors / investors. That's all a business really tries to generate, as revenues don't just appear. Of course, the goal is to also manage expense (both COGS and operating expense) well and be left with a nice profit.
