  1. Yeah, agreed. Moderately related only but my favorite flick from last year was After Midnight, so I suppose I have a “type” even though I do swing the other way and love when a horror movie is super tense or frightening. I don’t find many of those though, so the less-genre-typical ones tend to be highlights for me.
  2. YUP. Jhulud posted the email yesterday (it had gone to my spam folder):
  3. Yeah, I was willing to try for one more month but I've now cancelled and received a return label based on: thier closing of the Discord + someone on Reddit had emailed them and asked what they planned to do to improve the sub for the subscribers and received a blank email with a return label attached. Not promising.
  4. My wife and I enjoyed Werewolves Within quite a bit when we caught it over the weekend, just from a general comedy perspective though, it wasn't actually much of a horror movie. Been in a pretty long drought of actual high-level horror flicks for a while now; seen a bunch of mediocre-to-good stuff: Sacrifice, The Conspiracy, The Superdeep, Lights Out, Censor, Don't Listen, Caveat, The Tunnel, Rorschach, The Guest, We Summon the Darkness. Those are in the last month. I *really* didn't like Ghost Stories, Initiation, Saint Maud, or Slaxx. To be clear I love horror flicks, but apparently I'm getting really picky as I get older/old. I did like The Dead Center (mostly a reflection of how much I like Share Carruth), Psycho Goreman, Freaky, The Day of the Beast, and A Ghost Waits (twee AF so YMMV) - but I had to dig through like 3 months of viewing to come up with those. (Edited to add that I'm vegan too; so that's three of us on this page, which is funny to me)
  5. I think the heart of the issue that I can see is that it was made to seem like the membership would provide a member-only version of an album (which is how I read it for sure) but instead they’re sending a /2000 Rough Trade version of an album, which apparently you can still just buy on the RT site. I don’t have this yet, so no idea what is being sent. I’m interested on how RT handles month 2 of this based on the outcry, and will likely hold on to my subscription until then at least.
  6. Total aside, but thanks for the info; I’m visiting my parents in BHam and was unaware of this place. I lived in town a couple decades ago and used to hit up Magic Platter (and Optic Nerve for my weirdo movie rental needs) but couldn’t find any decent place to hit as of a few years ago when I went back to town.
  7. Huh, weird. Would have never thought twice about it.
  8. This is what I got: is what you received different or is this just the 12”? (Blank white label on the back)
  9. Got my shipping notice about 20 minutes ago!
  10. Awesome, thanks! Serious high school nostalgia with this album; can't wait to give it a spin.
  11. Nice, thanks for the heads up. Big nostalgic soft spot for Jonah from his first few projects, always nice to hear his voice again.
  12. 24 Hour Revenge Therapy (Turntable Lab Exclusive) - /500 blue marbled (“blue hair”) vinyl https://www.turntablelab.com/products/jawbreaker-24-hour-revenge-therapy-colored-vinyl-vinyl-lp-turntable-lab-exclusive?goal=0_a40291b0ff-5d9502a122-28068041&mc_cid=5d9502a122&mc_eid=11c56723be
  13. Love this album, bought the "Peak Vinyl" edition as soon as the email hit my inbox this morning.
  14. Love the new Fishboy album! Was fun to hang out on the square in Denton on Waitsgiving Day seeing him play the album / give a tour.
  15. Adding to the classic rock vein I'd say King Crimson for sure; I love the sheer WTF-ness of the abrupt transition from those early albums to Larks. Though for many listeners it might be good to hop off before getting to the Thrak-era stuff. I also love following the thread of Spacemen 3 through Spiritualized (and taking a detour into the Sonic Boom branch).
  16. Ugh, $13 shipping (only Priority as an option) is a pain.
  17. Damn, those /200 went stupid fast. Managed to order both while simultaneously ordering Sonic for my kids though 😂
  18. Nice! I had the same - mine supposedly has a dent on the back lower corner - for $52 and I’m perfectly okay with that since I was striking out paying ~$140 on import copies. Shipped today, can’t wait to spin it.
  19. Yeah, same. I also grabbed the Sean Nelson Subscription 7" which was $18 after the code. Both are a bit pricey but I'm a complete sucker for anything Sean Nelson.
  20. [re: Dirty Three - Ocean Songs] I should point out that they cancelled the order two hours later because their inventory count was off ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ they were very apologetic in their email. I *do* think I’ve managed to get a copy and at a great price to boot, but I’ll believe it when it ships and subsequently arrives.
