Ever think to yourself about an option? A different way to be?
And with those words the world was introduced to Atom & His Package. In an era of cookie cutter hardcore and pop punk acts, this Philadelphian one man punk rock machine delivered one of the most unique albums the punk scene had seen in years. The spiritual successor of bands like The Dead Milkmen, and They Might Be Giants, Atom and His Package’s first track “Avenger” was the bizarre story of taking revenge on his enemies, running away to an island with the love of his life, and solving the Israeli/Palestinian conflict in the Middle East…. And it just got better from there. He quickly became the single most controversial act in all of punk, people going as far as taking out ads bashing him in fanzines or banning his labels’ ads from them because he wasn’t punk/hardcore enough for them. Those people were idiots. Atom injected something that was sorely lacking in our scene…. FUN.  He played the weirdest bills… I saw him with hardcore bands, old school punk bands, ska bands, emo/screamo bands, even a trip-hop band etc. I traveled 1,000 miles to see his “reunion” show at FEST 7, and it was one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen.
He reminded us that we were pretty much all nerds and got into this music because we were “uncool”. His music was great. It was sometimes silly, it was sometimes obnoxious, it was sometimes so beautifully simple and honest that it was perfect. We’re extremely happy to have the opportunity to reissue his first two records partnered with our friends at Toxic Toast Records – Atom and His Package (first time ever on vinyl!) and Society of People Named Elihu (first time on vinyl in the US!) for all of the people who love Atom as much as we do.  So here’s to love songs to new age artists, leaving your friends and family to hang out with black metal bands, and praising Rob Halford for destroying metal stereotypes.
Additionally, for every copy  Asbestos Records sells, we will be making a donation to www.translifeline.com . It’s our 2nd fundraiser for them, and they’re really an incredible charity doing great work.

Looks like a Toy Soldiers 7" is coming. One of the vip upgrades for their fall tour is:

    • Autographed, Exclusive Variant of Two Song 'Toy Solider' 7"

Assuming that means there will be other variants that you can get without the ticket upgrade.

House of independents is a cool spot for bigger bands. Jeff Rosenstock is there next month and Face to Face this weekend. The Brewery just seems to have all these cool shows with smaller bands that probably won't play the lanes now that it's renovated. I know in the next few months Rozwell Kid, The Penske File, and Dikembe all have gigs there.

Baltimore’s War On Women were born screaming—at the world, at the status quo, in the face of oppression. The band’s forthcoming album Capture The Flag calcifies that rage, and no one in its wake is safe. Much more than a collection of songs or sonic experiment, Capture The Flag is a call to action that cannot be ignored.
Riff-fueled manifestos are nothing new for War On Women. The co-ed feminist punk troupe has been tackling injustice one song at a time since their 2010 inception. Storming out the gate with teeth gnashing and spitting venom, War On Women’s self-titled 2015 debut crossbred riot grrrl ferocity with the nimble aggression of thrash. Hailed for their crystalline jabs at societal ills, War On Women prove that hardcore can incite change that ripples far beyond the parameters of the stage.
With hundreds of shows and years of activism behind them, Capture The Flag finds War On Women more dogged than ever. Taking shape over the course of summer 2017, the band’s sophomore effort delves into injustices at both the macro and micro levels. Religious subjugation, gun violence, armchair activists, gender orgasm gap, female genital mutilation, the fetishization of motherhood, and toxic relationships—no breed of oppression defies War On Women’s purview. Recorded with J Robbins in Magpie Cage Recording Studio, Capture The Flag finds the band in their sonic wheelhouse, wedged somewhere between rebellious and rousing.
Enlisting the talents of their activist predecessors (Kathleen Hanna), glass ceiling shattering contemporaries (Joanna Angel), and own family (Brooks’s daughter Eva), Capture The Flag is a composite character of one of hardcore’s most riling bands. Ceding the gang vocals that peppered their debut album, War On Women opted to cultivate the singular voices of women who have devoted their lives to riling against the powers that be. The result is a crucible of discontent that will inspire as much as it will incense.
NOTE: This is a pre-order and will ship on or around the release date of April 13th

It's their newest lp, 2 months ahead of release date. Called 'Recreational Hate', self-released on their new personal label Turbo Worldwide.  Clear vinyl, really nice gatefold jacket. The enamel pin, poster, and sticker are cool too. Also came with a personalized note from the band.

Definitely worth the gamble. Brand New could learn some things about releasing a mystery bundle, heh.
