RivannaJunction reacted to Eliminator Jr. in PO: Titus Andronicus - The Most Lamentable Tragedy 3LP
I'm really excited for this but damn, I know I'll freak out about having to remove the platter from my pro-ject TWO times, because the second disc is fucking 45rpm. I'll most likely sit through the LP one time, max..
Maybe it's time for a speed box..

Alabama Shakes playing a free bar show at a bar in Tuscaloosa, AL where they kind of got their start...you can cram and I mean CRAM maybe 100-150 in this shotgun style dive bar
Godspeed You! Black Emperor in a 250 cap room
Hold Steady in a 250 cap room
Minus the Bear in a 250 cap room
Band of Horses in a 250 cap room
J Mascis in a 250 cap room
Zach Galifinakas in a 250 cap room
Patton Oswalt in a 250 cap room
Rob Delaney in a 250 cap room
Beach House in a 250 cap room
the amount of bands/acts that requested to play the 250 cap venue that could sell out the larger venues in town is pretty crazy....I guess we were doing something right

RivannaJunction reacted to glass realms in PO: RESTORATIONS - LP3 (out 10/28)
Got the Call + Response 7" today as well. I played it a few times on 45rpm thinking it was the correct speed. Didn't realize it was the wrong speed until I heard the song on the Bandcamp stream. hahaha

On the docket for now
9/16 - Gaslight Anthem/Against Me!
9/21 - Stiff Little Fingers (1st time seeing them!)
11/7 - 11/9 - Lucero (three night stand)
And quick gripe. Restorations is playing in Allston, MA on 11/9 (on which night I already have a ticket to Lucero). So I was kind of bummed. I have a cousin in the DC area so figured I could try seeing their DC show on 10/25 and make it somewhat affordable by not having to worry about a hotel. So the day after I booked a nonrefundable flight to DC on 10/24, Tim Barry announced a show in MA on 10/24. Grrr. Way it goes.
Some possible good news though, I thought I couldn't go to the Mighty Mighty Bosstones annual Hometown Throwdown (12/26 - 12/28) this year because my wife's due date is January 7 so I figured I would have to be on standby at any given moment. Lately my wife has been saying if I wanted to go to one night she could possibly try staying with her parents and sister that night. So I think I might wait until openers are announced and then pick what night looks best. Or if none of the openers appeal, I'll go Night 3 cause they usually add 2-3 songs to the setlist on that night.

RivannaJunction got a reaction from BobbyHill in Vinyl/Turntables in Movies/TV
I believe there was an episode of Louie this season that flashes back to Louie's childhood in the 70s. The episode was named "In the Woods." I believe there was a scene where teen Louie and his friend are listening to a record in his friend's room when his older brother comes in, smashes the record, and beats up his younger brother. I don't have a screencap though.

Moe: Oh, everybody is going to family restaurants these days, tsk. Seems nobody wants to hang out in a dank pit no more.
Carl: You ain't thinking of getting rid of the dank, are you, Moe?
Moe: Ehh, maybe I am.
Carl: Oh, but Moe, the dank. The dank!

RivannaJunction got a reaction from Snaggle Von Swift in The Concert Thread
At the Bosstones/Gaslight Anthem show last night, Dicky came out to do "The Patient Ferris Wheel" with Gaslight Anthem and later Brian came out to do "Someday I Suppose" with the Bosstones. The Bosstones also had Lenny Lashley (Darkbuster, Piss Poor Boys, Street Dogs, Gang of One) onstage to do "The Bricklayer's Story" and Jimmy Kimmel played bass clarinet on "The Impression that I Get." Good times.

I hate when people walk on the wrong side of the sidewalk. Traffic is flowing in a certain direction, you're not special, walk with everyone else.

RivannaJunction reacted to mr. sincere in PO: The Gaslight Anthem - Get Hurt
I've no doubt it will be different, but he's been talking up monumental changes in the band's sound since American Slang and in the end, it always basically sounds like Gaslight, just a little worse each time.
