Looks like a printed inner sleeve to me. But I would much rather it be a printed insert.

I truly don't mind a long wait (especially for reissues) as long as records turn out sounding like they ought to. I have to admit, I'm even more nervous about the quality, now.

    Per their Facebook:

"I keep getting info from the plant that they are about to do something so we're waiting to have real info. First it was they are shipping early Jan. Early jan it became actually we're starting pressing early Jan. Then they said sorry but dont worry we're starting pressing next week. Next week still nothing. I keep waiting to have an update I can stand behind. I dont want to lie to anyone. The latest update was they are starting pressing Monday. Monday they tell us the pressing machine is down but we are the next project when its fixed and wont say if its a one day fix or a week or whatever, literally no info. Basically, they keep dangling so little info its going to piss everyone off. I hope to have photos and videos of them proving they started this week and then sending it to everyone. This situation 100% sucks and I wish I had real upates for all of you."

"It's brutal and embarrassing. We tried a new company based in Austin to support a local business and it has been delay after delay although they swear they are starting pressing this week."

Yeah I really like the Pale Horses deluxe, it's a treasure, but the 1x33 presentation on the (albeit really fun-looking) noisy color-chaos variant leaves a lot to be desired and I would pick up a 2x45 without a second thought.

I dunno, 45rpm is one of the extremely few marketing tactics that actually majorly improves sound unlike 180g virgin vinyl etc. Even if these reissues came in plain sleeves by themselves the difference in sound is incredible and the only way I want to listen to mwY now.

Also it doesn't have the most important part of these reissues... a belly band featuring "LP5" on the spine.

I’m actually pretty surprised this one sold out so quickly. I ordered it, and like this album quite a bit, but I thought it was generally regarded as one of their weaker albums, so I thought it’d probably stick around for a week or two at least. But, good for them.

Uhhh so I bit and picked up the mastered MP3s for $6... they're showing up for me as 128 kbps?? Can anyone else confirm that this is the sad reality, or did I download the wrong thing?

Edit: I emailed them about it and they replaced the download with 320, so that's nice. Sounds worlds better obviously.

    Available tomorrow (10/30) at 11AM PST / 2PM EST.

"Tooth & Nail Records, in partnership with Showbread, are extremely proud to announce a shocking, blood-soaked vinyl pressing of their mainstream debut album No Sir, Nihilism is Not Practical on 2 LP Black & “Red Bloodpool” vinyl [561 copies total].
    .
Collaborated from-start-to-finish with frontman Josh Dies, this Deluxe Edition set features:
A 2 LP, Capitol Records remastering, cut specifically for vinyl at 45 RPM for optimal spazzing-out. A lengthy retrospective commentary written by Josh Dies called “Manic, Defiant, and Aesthetically Imbalanced”. A Ryan Clark-approved Gatefold Packaging restoration of the weird and wild cover artwork, sans the title font text for optimal displaying. Shrink wrap!
Co-Produced, faithfully-restored, and stabbed to death by the nutcases at Unoriginal Vinyl"

The fact that anyone feels like media that's created by melting plastic between two plates and then scraped by a diamond to make sound should be as flawless as a CD is super funny to me. Quality hasn't gone down, price and therefor expectation are higher and thats it. You should really just blame people pressing movie and video game soundtracks in every gimmicky way possible for attracting nerd collector culture to the hobby.

Frankly, this guy has no clue about record pressing, the industry, pressing plants and quality control.  I was an Ops Manager at a pressing plant and run a label.  I would say that I’m more fit to talk about these issues.

This man, as a consumer (nervously listening to new records and looking for issues) is exactly the type of person who needs a new hobby and/or needs to switch back over to CDs.

Most new pressings are generally decent.

There are good and bad pressings from every plant.  It’s ridiculous to say that everything from GZ or URP or Third Man is crap.  I have great pressings from all of these places.  I also have shitty pressings from what are known as the “better” plants around the world that will remain unnamed.  It’s the nature of the format.  Things happen along each step of record making that effect a pressing.  Sometimes even while on the press, things change drastically within 5-10 records...Every plant basically has the same QC method.  It’s how they’re enforced that sets aside quality.  Also, every job that hits the press is generally “rushed” to move on to the next job...it’s always been this way and will always be this way.

Color contamination is a joke...learn about the extruder and nozzle first before you even talk about a spec of black or another color in your record.   It’s the most annoying complaint and non-issue that exist in vinyl pressing.

    Rant done...
