  1. Mine was the Stella Artois red/gold. Looks great and after a quick wipe down with a microfiber cloth, I didn't have to worry about any of that haze dust we hear about so often.
  2. Might make the 36-hour round trip to see this. A festival like this one probably won't happen again.
  3. All good points, but what interests me most about these (especially the Technics) is the engineering that goes into them - that's what interests me most about all hifi audio, really. Here's a cool thread I found about some unique mechanics in the Technics table. This was something I found particularly interesting. Surely a mechanical nightmare, but also quite a mechanical feat when/if it works. Shit like this is what makes turntables cool.
  4. Here's me in a Denny's parking lot, apparently dressed like a dad. The headlamp was being returned to a friend who left it in my tent after camping.
  5. That Technics one is actually pretty smart-looking. Very space age. And knowing Technics, it probably wasn't half bad. On topic: This is a novel idea. It's sort of cool, and marginally innovative in that the platter actually sits at a mild incline, which I imagine might be easier to track than a directly vertical one. It's just another facet of the vinyl bubble, really - this is not much different from people buying the blonk-fun82 splatters to hang on their walls. It's a statement piece, and it looks sorta cool. It's always fun to watch everyone crawl out of the woodwork to display who is the most jaded and cynical, though. What's the point? This isn't half as bad as VYNL, and whoever's designed it has to have had at least half a brain to understand the logistics of tracking vertically and shit. Cart isn't too shabby, either. Anyway, I personally think that anything that will draw more people to develop an interest in vinyl, and help keep this industry alive post-vinyl bubble, is something we can tolerate. Lots of people grow out of their Crosleys and AT-LP60s (I had one of those, y'know) to become contributing members of this community, and the vinyl community at large. Is it likely that everyone - or anyone - who buys this table will do that? No, but why be so fucking exclusive? Why race to the first page to exclaim that and explain why this is a shitty idea? It's a solution to a problem that doesn't exist, sure. But sort of a cheeky one at that - tell me honestly that you wouldn't want to watch your ultra-rare Sunbather variant spin on this table.
  6. Thanks for the heads up. I just grabbed Groezrock by itself - I don't need three copies of this. The bundle will definitely appeal to Fat completionists, though. Good move.
  7. What's in the spoiler is not directly related to the conversation, but still sort of relevant/food for thought. One thing that's very often stressed in American History classes, and key to understanding the Confederacy, is that a very large part of the reason behind the secession of the Confederate states and, as it followed, the Civil War was not directly related to the right to own slaves but instead the rights of states to exercise... well, states' rights. While much of the support for the Confederacy was fueled by racism and social Darwinism, not everybody who subscribed to this ideology was necessarily a racist and certainly not all of them were slaveholders. This was a time of great sociopolitical change in the United States where classical Federalism (among other things like, thankfully, slavery) was being abandoned and many Southerners felt threatened by this, along with the continued industrialization of the nation... Well, my point is that while the Confederate flag is very closely intertwined with racist ideology, it may very well hold some other, more rational significance to some of the people who fly it. That being said, if they are so pro-Federalist they could just save themselves the trouble of being branded an inbred, racist redneck and fly a Federalist flag, or get an Articles of Confederation bumper sticker or some shit. I personally think that flying the Confederate flag is repulsive, but just as we have a right to burn the American flag, we have a right to fly whichever one we want - even if it makes some people (read: a lot of people read: probably all of the black population, rightfully) uncomfortable. The issue of racism being bred and taught in places like Charleston is while closely related, another issue. On the other hand: Abandoning all of my understanding of cultural anthropology and my culturally-relativistic point of view, I fail to see much of any value in Southern culture, which like the Confederate ideology is so closely intertwined with deep-seated racism. Strictly speaking empirically it breeds and encourages racism in a way that makes it very difficult to address this problem in our progressive, politically-correct society. I could be taking a cynical leap by saying it may be something beyond our control, but I fear that I am not. I hope that this is something to change with time. Anyway, to actually contribute to the conversation: I don't pray to anything, but I think that's the only thing to be done at this point if that's what you do. To pray to whatever you believe in, or just to hope that the families of the victims of this shooting may find some closure (and the family of the perpetrator, as well - their world has been turned upside-down in an entirely different way). This shit is fucked, and it needs to change. But it's not something that happens overnight.

  9. Ordered as well. It's all sold out on Amazon but still available at Best Buy - for Xbox One, at least.
  10. I hadn't heard about this. I've probably got about a million hours logged on Tony Hawk's Underground, so this is something to look forward to. Also, check out Bones Brigade on Netflix if you haven't seen it. Really cool documentary about the pro team Hawk and some other big names were a part of under the eye of Powell-Peralta in the 80s.
  11. Yeah, if it works out please let us know. I think it's a cool idea.
  12. What is most incredible is the fact that stl_ben, such a proficient flipper, has no meaningful understanding of what the term "flip" actually means.
  13. Yo, man... I've been watching Naruto again. And the soundtrack is fuckin' killer. Or the score, I suppose - I don't care much for the introduction and credit theme songs, except for that psychedelic sounding one at the beginning of season 3. I think they change with each passing story arc. Anyway, my point is that the score is really good.
  14. Aren't you putting yourself on a bit of a pedalstool with this one, S.R.?
  15. The best part about this thread is that the only person who's able to cut through all the bullshit and post a relevant response is the OP.
  16. We call it "playing Pokemon." Only with Fire types and Grass types, though. And if you play enough, you'll unlock Psychic types.
  17. You should know that you are probably the first ever poster to so soundly disarm the VC ruff-n-tuff crew of their shit-talkin' with one single post. You could get some serious cash for that. Or, your friend could. Or you could, if you tell him it's not worth shit and then sell it for yourself.
  18. Who do I call with my #vibes to hand curate my VNYL Tuesday?
  19. Guitar Hero Live looks like it's going to be absolutely awful. Nobody wants to play a traditional Guitar Hero controller with six frets - you either want the original five frets or to use the more realistic peripherals from Rock Band 3 with the actual "strings." There is no in-between. The live-action footage will probably be shit. They're really toeing a line between video games and virtual-reality that shouldn't be fucked with, at least not yet; I think it's going to turn out being very fucking cheesy. I never thought the Guitar Hero games were actually any good, anyway - their controllers were better, and some of the songs were more challenging which led to more fun, but the games were always pretty shit in my opinion. Always sort of on the heels of Rock Band, like Derek said. On the other hand, I'm fucking pumped for Rock Band 4. I love that shit. Edit: It turns out Guitar Hero Live is being developed by the same people who did DJ Hero, in case we needed any more confirmation that it will be trash. The track listing for GH is a joke as well. Black Veil Brides, Ed Sheeran, the Lumineers and Skrillex - exactly what I'm looking for in a game like this.
  20. Interesting! So, is this more limited blue ostensibly from the original Colossal Wassail pressing then?
