  1. I thought the general lack of action throughout the episode would certainly be building up to an attack on the town at the end, so I was pretty disappointed when it looked like it would wind up just being them chatting around the fire - but then pleasantly surprised by what ended up happening. It felt like a sort of one-two punch to imbue more power into that final scene. I don't know whether it worked or not. Also, just an observation: Obviously as the show has continued, the zombies have become much less interesting. At this point, I have a feeling that a major character will never again die just at the hands of zombies, because that's such a pedestrian way to die this far into the apocalypse. A central theme of the show has been people > walkers in terms of danger, but I think that will begin to feel played out... I don't know. Maybe they're painting themselves into a corner. So anyway... The zombies don't seem to be a threat to the major characters - partially because none of them ever die by them, which just compounds the problem. Maybe I'm rambling. My point is that the other people in the show will have to become more and more evil until the point that it becomes unbelievable, because not everybody who survived the apocalypse would just become a fucking sociopath (look at all the relatively normal people in Alexandria).
  2. I really dig "You Really Got Me" (yeah, a cover - but better than the original imo), "Ice Cream Man", and of course "Hot for Teacher". They really fuckin' slay on that last one. I'm not a big fan of Sammy Hagar at all. I don't like his voice, I don't like his music, and I don't really like him as a person. (DLR is an egomaniacal dickhead as well, but he can sing better.) But Hagar was allegedly the inspiration for the title of Double Nickels on the Dime, so we can thank him for that.
  3. Thanks! I haven't seen NOVUS recommended on any of the other sites I've checked, but the reviews seem to be pretty good. I think I'll check it out.
  4. Brasso metal polish used to be a cure-all product for taking scratches, hazing, abrasions - really any minor damage out of anything from brass to headlight covers. I've read that it's especially useful for taking the haze out of turntable dustcovers. The problem is that in 2008, Brasso's formula was changed to comply with new regulations in the United States. The new formula doesn't do shit for scratches and isn't useful for dustcovers. I've searched far and wide online and can't find anywhere stocking "classic" Brasso (as it isn't produced anymore, it would just be leftover stock of pre-2008 Brasso anyway), nor can I find any sort of consensus on a comparable product. The dust cover on my Philips could really use a good cleaning - it looks more like my smokey copy of Suicidal Tendencies than the clear it came from the factory. Can anybody provide a lead on "classic" Brasso, or recommend a comparable product? Thanks, guys.
  5. My white whale up for sale: Liberal Animation on red, limited (ostensibly) to either five or six according to who you believe. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOFX-RED-WAX-Liberal-Animatino-E86417-LP-Ap1960/301575235389?_trksid=p5411.c100167.m2940&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140131123730%26meid%3D805968939f8a4b82820a160ae6a7255e%26pid%3D100167%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D181695253805
  6. Nice! The music from this game was killer. This has been a major want of mine since I first started collecting.
  7. I saw this yesterday when it was at about 700K. Part of me wants to be surprised that this was funded in a day, but I know I shouldn't be. I'm fucking pumped. The maple-syrup scene from the first one is probably one of the funniest in cinematic history. That being said, did anyone else feel like the trailer wasn't very funny? It seemed sort of forced to me, but I think if all the original cast from Broken Lizard are returning then a sequel should still be a fucking riot.
  8. It was also much more convenient for the "fully-automatic" setups of the 70s, which could queue up albums similarly on one turntable. You'd play the A/C record while the B/D one was loaded and ready, and then it would drop down and play side B after A finished. You'd have to manually switch to C, but then D would follow. It was a big deal. Peter Frampton's Frampton Comes Alive was the first record to be pressed this way, I believe. So your copy of Electric Ladyland probably is not from the first pressing but is more than likely genuine. Nice score, if it sounds good! Edit: I stand corrected. The first German pressing of Electric Ladyland was pressed in the A/C B/D format after all. Good find! Edit 2: It's actually A/D B/C, which I suppose makes more sense for "auto-coupling" (the official term for that mechanism I talked about earlier). Still, it's probably from the first pressing. Check the catalog numbers against the link I provided to make sure.
  9. I just read Slaughterhouse-Five, and I'm still sort of trying to figure it out. Next up is a collection of Franz Kafka's short stories.
  10. I like the term "apatheism." I don't know if it's a legitimate portmanteau of "apathy" and "theism" or if it's just the greatest linguistic coincidence of all time, but that's what I'd call myself. I used to be pretty militantly atheistic. Like, those "lmao god's not real, prove it" guys. Or Fat Mike in this video at Warped Tour. But now that I've gotten older and experienced more I've thought, y'know, the idea of a god isn't so outlandish. It's the hate and bigotry of religious groups that I take issue with, anyway.
  11. Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. Maybe that's a cliche. But I think "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is best heard in the late hours.
  12. It is not likely a lacquer. Generally, there is only one lacquer (or acetate, or master) disc per pressing of a record. The master is used to make stampers (reverse impressions of the master) which are in turn used to press the vinyl, so a lacquer technically could be played on a turntable - and they were in the past. It might even be the best way to listen to a vinyl pressing since it would be the least adulterated medium. That being said, lacquers are made the same way that lathe-cut records are. So, given that someone had enough material to make a run of fifty records on a lathe, they very well could be cut on something other than vinyl. Maybe even plexiglass. It probably isn't an actual lacquer, though, since that material is much more expensive than vinyl. Post some pictures if you would, it sounds cool! Edit: Damn it rfc, you beat me to the punch! Edit 2: I should clarify that aluminum (what many lacquer discs are made of) is not necessarily more expensive in bulk than vinyl, but it'd certainly be more expensive to produce lacquer discs than records - because they must be electroplated with the lacquer, which is an expensive process. The only feasible way for someone to do a run of 50 lacquer records would be if they were an employee of a mastering company and were able to do it under-the-table.
  13. I'm selling Western Addiction's Cognicide with a starting price of exactly what I paid for it, because I am a scumbag. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Western-Addiction-Cognicide-color-vinyl-176-fat-wreck-OOP-NOFX-propagandhi-/181695253805
  14. It's both Robbin' the Hood and 40oz to Freedom. The independent pressing of 40oz (apparently with the original track listing) was the one that was cancelled, more than likely by the Nowell estate. Since Travis' work is totally separate, the Hot Topic press is still going.
  15. Mine plays a lot of Descendents. When I bought some Millencolin LPs there, I spoke to the guy behind the counter about Somery (which was playing at the time). He said, "We've got it in stock, you should get it," and I said, "Joke's on you, I already have it." Then we did the hand-pistols thing and I left. It was fucking cool.
  16. Heists are cool. People who play GTA Online, on the other hand, are not. This is not news, though. Seems like everybody is still a total fucking dickweed. Lots of guys from the dudebro and #StanceNation crowd. Luckily my friends and I have got a group of four doing so we can do the Heists relatively well uninterrupted.
  17. At least one person here reported problems with distortion on last year's press of Everything Sucks. That could be it.
  18. It says that the country of origin is the Czech Republic, but it's from Pirate's Press and it's an ETR catalog number. Does Ross have sleeper agents in the Czech Republic? Does Ross have sleeper agents in former Soviet states? Is Ross Josef Stalin?
  19. Black-on-white crime is not sensational. It won't be on the news. In addition, given recent rulings that cell phone videos are not admissible as evidence, she may not even face charges.
