  1. Thanks for the help and recommendations guys! I'm down to a mere two contestants. http://www.phonophono.de/phono/plattenspieler/pro-ject-debut-carbon.html That's the one I was recommended by slinch with the 2m red totalling at 400 bucks. Now I found this: https://www.hifisound.de/Hifi-Komponenten/PRO-JECT-DEBUT-CARBON-AC-ESPRIT-MIT-ORTOFON-2M-RED-HOCHGLANZ-SCHWARZ.html?gclid=CLzsvqjC78ACFabLtAodvyYA0Q That's quite a deal right? Or are there any disadvantages with the acrylic platter one that I didn't catch? To me it looks like the exakt same model, just withe the acriylic update, but for the same price..
  2. Really diggin' the early Bad Seeds-vibe of the new songs. His voice sounds even more abrasive in this new setting. Might buy without any further listening.
  3. So is the standard platter of the Debut Carbon DC from your link the same measure as the acrylic platter? And in case you've missed my last post on the previous page, do you have any recommendations on which cartridge to get considering the inner groove distortion?
  4. That would be great, thanks! As I said, I am not sure if it is nearly as bad as I am making it out to be, since all I've seen are crappy pictures that didn't clarify anything to me concerning the platter at all. It just looks like at least 2cm of a 12" would hang over the platter.
  5. Thanks a lot for the help! That' around 100€ more than I expected, but I'm in if it's worth it. I am looking for a cartridge that minimizes inner groove distortion, since I was having problems with that on multiple occasions over the years. Which cart would you suggest?
  6. It's not that I solely care about visual components of a turntable dude, I just want things to be right for me. What's the point of paying 300 bucks for a turntable that I don't enjoy putting my records on.
  7. So I finally figured out what the damn problem is. The platter is 28cm, 12" records are 30cm. I know most people don't give a damn about those 2cm of vinyl hanging over the platter, but to me that's kinda off-putting. Oh well.. Thanks for all your help man
  8. Thanks a lot mate. Clears things up perfectly. Ordering soon! Edit: Damnit I am not through with this. Just read an amazon review and some guy mentioned that he changed the standard 10" platter to a 12" acrylic platter. Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/review/R106N5IAEQHIOS/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B001FUIQN2&nodeID=172282&store=electronics
  9. That is exactly what I mean. I've seen pictures of the debut iii which suggested that 12" records would hanger over the side about 2". I am not sure if that is the case, since I have only seen pictures online. Also not sure if it's the same with the debut carbon or any other models. So you say that is wrong and the turntable of the debut iii is indeed 12"? Then there would be no problem at all!
  10. So I was pretty positive about purchasing the pro-ject debut III and just realized that the turntable itself is not 12", but 10". Although that's not a big deal at all, it just doesn't really fit to my personal visual preferences. I've read that the debut III E has is 12", but it comes with an automatic system and I am not into that either. Do any of you have recommendations on an alternative which might fit to the look and price of the debut III, but with a 12" turntable?
  11. I cannot seem to follow the thought process of evaluating on spending almost a hundred dollars more on a lesser variant of the same product. The third repress has a way superior packaging and is said to be cut from better sounding sources as the first two. I'd go for the recent pressing and spend the remaining hundred bucks on other cool stuff.
  12. Shipped! Just a few more weeks to go! On the few pictures they released before the preorder went up this thing looks more like a box set than a gatefold. I'm expecting this to be massive.
  13. Let's make your VC-anniversary the day of your 100th record and 10.000 post!
  14. Need to listen to this again some time, but considering my love for Emergency and how great the repress turned out to be, I am pretty confident towards purchasing this down the road.
  15. Assuming that you've been a member on this board for about a year, the even more impressive thing is your postcounter!
  16. Just got a 'ready to ship' confirmation from Jonathan for all variants. Had to PayPal an extra 13 bucks to cover the massive shipping costs for this beast. Here's to a good few weeks of restless nights in utter horror of this beast arriving heavily damaged..
  17. I asked about my order and just got a message that not all variants are yet ready to be shipped.
  18. It's 6 right now, which just might be an all time high for me, since I almost always get all my stuff from the record store I'm working at. That whole 'Deathconsciousness being one of my favorite albums ever so let's order ALL the variants and ship 'em overseas'-story is quite an exception on my end and I am so happy when they finally arrive for FUCKS sake and all those nightmares of destroyed records end and I never ever ever have to preorder anything ever again UGH.
  19. Laughed pretty hard, love it! Just bought JEW's Bleed American (Back to Black) and SP's Gish Reissue this morning.
  20. Also still waiting on any kind of information regarding my order. Ordered all the variants + Wreck and Reference's latest colored vinyl.
  21. Since you're located in germany as well, where did you manage to pick up Clarity? Release date is like six weeks from now and I WANT that record.
  22. Noticed at first sight on my TUW copy. It's like two errors in twelve words on the inner gatefold jacket. Weird..
  23. I'm in for "Building Nothing Out Of Something". My most beloved MM record, right up there with "Lonesome" and "Long Drive".
