  1. Honestly pretty interested in this one. Their last record didn't do much for me but I like the 80s sound on these singles.
  2. I got the Mindsweep and wasn't really impressed but didn't hate it. This one I'd have to wait on. So far it looks like a complete radio friendly rebrand of the band, and I don't see that going well. Overly political electronic pop....... maybe I'll be happily surprised.....
  3. This record is great. I feel like it definitely lends itself to the live show more than Abyss, not that I have any problem with that record.
  4. Been plowing through a ridiculous amount of new records this year, but not too much has stuck so far. Favorites so far: Blanck Mass Exquirla Mastodon (big fan of Brann's singing so hey) Ulver Feist At The Drive In Forest Swords Mutoid Man Brutus (maybe technically last year) Madly disappointed by Gorillaz. Fleet Foxes and Elder really didn't do anything for me even though I'd hoped they might. Bunch of other stuff I can't think of but doesn't really stand out. Extremely excited for the new Leprous and Chelsea Wolfe albums. Potentially excited for a new Queens Of The Stone Age album.
  5. listened to this today, its cool but nowhere near God's Hand. Torn on getting a copy because it seems like just a sampler for the VR project but I'll probably break down and get it
  6. felt like this year had some pretty great records but right now nothing holds a candle to Alcest's Kodama and Oathbreaker's Rheia in my book. Those two records blow me away every listen.
  7. saw Gojira last night, my spine's gettin too old for that shit. Great show.
  8. past month or so: Russian Circles- Guidance Campsite- 2 Fotographic Alcest- Souvenirs D'Un Autre Monde Gojira- Magma Devin Townsend Project- Transcendence
  9. Hey, you probably already caught this but Sargent House is auctioning test pressings on their site including all of the Chelsea Wolfe records.
  10. lol hating Korn is a meme at this point, do people still complain about their sister playing Backstreet Boys? This band has never put out a record I haven't had fun listening to. I'll buy their new radio rock records and just tune out the lyrics, and the album art atrocity. New song is a good direction, I was worried they were gonna settle on the electronic BS for awhile longer. It's no Korn 3 but hey. Nick Raskulinecz too instead of Don fucking Gilmore, yay
  11. I am so, so ready for this record. New track sounds like they kept the Circumambulation vibe but took a huge look back at their debut.
  12. A few listens in and I'm feeling this. Wasn't expecting to like it much from the first singles, with the poppiness and the preachier than ever lyrics, but its growing. The biggest let down to me is that the one song that's heavy for heavy's sake is a definite miss. I guess in perspective, I always expected another Fake History somewhere, but now it looks like Fake History was the pinnacle of their hardcore days. Even though this record takes every note out of the pop-hardcore Pierce The Veil style playbook, it doesn't read like that. Definitely some weak tracks, even weaker than The Blackest Beautiful, but I'll grab this record and I'll always see them live when possible.
  13. Finally! God City sort of screams to me that this will be a heavy heavy RS record. Can't wait for that!
  14. According to the band's Instagram, they have copies of the "As High.." repress at their merch table
  15. I always thought my LP copy sounded wayyy better than the CD master. Still not great. Regarding the quality, this studio apparently had a decently dynamic master of The Blackest Beautiful that got canned for some reason. There's still some samples on the site. I kind of have a feeling it has to do more with masking the hardcore Melodyne action rather than a "boombox aesthetic". http://electrowerksmusic.com/
  16. loved the singles as they came out, loved the record at first listen. Each repeat it just grows and grows on me. Got the solid purple on its way, grabbed the CD for the cassette last night. Production could be better IMO but it doesn't detract too much. First time I heard the little outro thing, I knew it had to be John's daughter. Easily one of my favorite bands of all time, can't wait to see them play again.
  17. The new St. Germain record which is super fun so far. Chelsea Wolfe's The Grime And The Glow. I somehow have the gray splatter version and its making me want to hunt down the orange pressing of Apokalypsis. Love the Deftones, probably will throw on SNW later. Easily one of my long time favorites from them.
  18. I have a translucent red copy of this, and its pretty damn noisy. I got it used so that may be it, but I have not had super stellar experiences with Ipecac vinyl in the past....
  19. bunch of stuff this past week or so Faith No More- Sol Invictus Elder- Lore Fleet Foxes- Helplessness Blues Ghost- Infestissumam Wovenhand- s/t Various- Music From Saharan Cellphones
  20. ohhhh man, finally on that INO repress! Nice! Hopefully it won't take years
  21. yeah Bittman was on the Comatorium defending it when it dropped, if I recall correctly the phrase "slammed it to 1-inch tape" came up, but basically nothing he said really panned out to justify the terrible remaster. I still have hope that they'd go to a pro (no offense to Matt, he seems like a standup guy and runs the live shows like a boss), but everything Noctourniquet-Antemasque have me believe it's more of an Omar creative decision than a lack of skill or knowledge.
  22. anybody got any input on the sound on this one? I'd love to have a copy of this finally for under $30ish, but I'm pretty skeptical of the sound or at least the source.
  23. so, anybody else pumped for Chelsea Wolfe and Wovenhand this weekend?
  24. Sure! I just feel like with John's art and the lyrical style of all their past stuff, the word "Purple" just seems a little goofy, maybe blunt. It just doesn't feel like it has that same romantic ring the rest of it does. I'm sure the album itself, and the art, will quickly change my opinion on that though. I honestly wasn't expecting to find myself THIS hyped for this album, but god damn am I excited. I've been hunting down any and all live videos from this tour, and from the few that are out there the band's on fire. It also doesn't feel like its been 3 years since Yellow and Green! That flew by!
  25. Oh man do I have my fingers crossed for a single tomorrow........ I need something to argue with people about until December 18th that isn't Star Wars hahah very surprised it isn't called Violet or something, Purple just seems a little out of sync with their tone
