    My buddy just showed me them finally, and has been raving about them for years.  I've listened to this EP like 5 times now since coming back from Dunk.  Was going to make a thread about it last night but never got around to it.  These guys are fantastic.  I love the use of piano, and the vocals on track 3 are wonderful.  The last track is without question my favorite though.

    In other news, This Patch of Sky has made it big in the Far East!  Their music was featured in a McDonalds ad!

    Wyatt E was maybe my favorite surprise discovery of the festival.  That set was incredible.  Also, it was great meeting you too bud!  I hope I lived up somewhat to my storied reputation haha.

    Awesome news! Looking forward to seeing a headline show of them some time here in Germany

    They were one of my favorite acts on dunk beside RC (obviously), ef and Wyatt E.

    Was nice meeting you, Gumbo...finally made me forget all prejudices I had about you

    They were great at Dunk.  Johnny was having some amp troubles, but it was still great.  The lights are SO intense there.  I also liked how Phil would connect some of the songs with little jammy interludes.

    Caspian also has a new drummer; their old lighting tech has taken over for Joe, who has bowed out of the machine to focus on his family.  The new guy seemed to handle everything pretty well; he was right on the money with the rhythm change in Fire Made Flesh.

    Seeing the Bern, Switzerland setlist hurts a little bit though after the fairly predictable Dunk setlist XD.  Glad I finally got Waking Season, Sad Heart, and Castles though!  Castles is an absolute beast live.  That ending is so crushing.  Really surprised they did absolutely nothing from Tertia though, although the Jo Quail sit-in on Rioseco was pretty cool!

    They just killed it the other day over here at Dunk!  They played Sundowning, Repose, and one other single before playing all of Veles in it's entirety.  It was fucking sweet.  Only the 2nd time they've ever played the whole record.

    Nope, it's basic physics.  The heavier weight helps make the record and record player become a more stable unit, much the same way that people use weights and pucks to reduce vibration.  I mean, you can probably argue the perceivability but the math holds.  Also, much like cortical bone, the thickness/mass helps prevent mechanical strain (bending).  Granted this is all moot if the pressing itself is shitty.

    It's happening!  Send a PM to Ethereal, he's going to run point on this one for me.

    So, the shipping rate is a flat 18.90eu for any amount.  It just becomes a matter of whether that gets divided by 5 people, or 6 people if you join.  To me, it's always worth it to save some money.  But I'm also in college so anything I can do to save a few bucks is worth it for me.

    While not a rule, 180g tends to sound better in my experience.  Plus, I like the heavier vinyl.  It might be a psychological thing, like how car companies made it so that doors make a more robust sound to make you feel like it's sturdy.

    Song is great.  That outro needs to be like 3-4 minutes longer though.  I could live inside that groove forever.

    Also, I'm too emotionally numb to cry right now.  Girls are stupid.  I honestly don't even want to buy records anymore.  ::shrug::

    RIGHT?

    So, I just sent a message over to the band to confirm our totals and confirm my pricing structure and make sure everything is cool.  Once I get the okay from them that the estimate is valid, I will send you guys messages individually.  I will include price breakdowns and show how everything works out, because we have a few new people joining our group this time

    Just to review:

    @EquinoxDesignLab - Myra LTD, Skarntyde
    @forgivemyfailures - Myra LTD, Skarntyde, Blader Som Faller
    @ganaar7575 - Myra LTD, Skarntyde, Blader Som Faller
    @mrewest - Myra LTD

    Again, once I hear back from the band that my total that I arrived at is valid for them, we'll be good to go!  I am using the quoted prices I posted back a little bit, and they are being very kind on the shipping discount, cutting it in half to approximately $45 USD (!!!) so once I get that confirmation from them, we'll be set to roll!  For those of you buying 3 records, I am quoting Media Mail at $5 because I just don't recall how much 3 records is, so if there is an extra dollar or whatever after, I will refund that to you

    One thing VERY important to note:  Please send the payments as a GIFT to Friends/Family.  Otherwise, Paypal takes a cut of the money, and that throws our total off.  When you log in to Paypal from a computer, this is the 2nd option from the left, in the top row.  The icon is a circle with a wavy dollar bill.

    If you are new, and would like to check in with any of the many people here who have joined our group buys before, the most recent was the BLAK album, so you can check out that thread and message anybody to check up on me as a reference for your own peace of mind

    EDIT:  Just heard back from the band that our total is okay to go.  I need to get working on my homework though so I will try to send individual messages out to you guys later tonight or tomorrow!!!  Here we go!

    Yes!  I will urge CJ to repress that old album.  Isn't it so great?!

    In other news, last night I took my girlfriend to see Yndi Halda with Staghorn, Wess Meets West, and Mineva.

    Holy.  Fucking.  Shit.  I eat every naysaying word I ever wrote about Yndi Halda.  That was god-tier.  Their music takes on an entirely new life on stage... much like The End of The Ocean is an entirely different beast than on record.  It was utterly breathtaking.  They played 3/4 of Under Summer (unfortunately curfew prevented them from playing A Sun Colored Shaker) leaving out Helena.  I don't know if any of you have ever seen them before, but for the end of "This Very Flight" they each took up these hand-mallet things to play the ending melody.  They went around in turns, with each person playing one note of the melody after walking out into the crowd.

    It may rival "Sycamore" for the most epic ending I've ever seen.  The whole venue was held rapt and dead silence...... it was fucking incredible.

    Check out this video to see what I'm talking about:

    Sick, thanks man.

    So, I've been doing some research in anticipation of Dunk again, because so many of the names they're booking are totally unfamiliar to me.  This next one proved to be a very pleasant surprise, personally.  I am a sucker for this mid-tempo, delay-riff-driven style of rock, especially with the faded, indie-style production.  If anybody here, I'd wager that Don is the only one who's likely to have heard of them, as they only have 600-odd likes on Facebook, are from Europe, and have nothing released since 2015.  Please do ignore that font on the cover.

    I'm going to tag everybody here because it's easier than making a new thread, and I've just learned a valuable lesson haha.  I need to calculate prices based on Paypal's exchange rate, and not the Global market rate because they are not the same.  I'll end up eating $15 on this because Paypal's exchange rate took us from $435.36, which is what the actual exchange is (361.88 euro is what our total came to) and marked it up to $450.76.  I also should have built in some more buffer for fluctuating exchange prices too because I quoted you guys at about $.25 under what it ended up costing per record, based on the global rate today, and we have 12 records so that's $3 right there in difference.

    I feel like I'm being dishonest if I quote you guys higher than the exchange rate shows at the time I quote you.... but I guess we need to do that, in addition to calculating everyone's share based on the Paypal exchange rate, which I need to do some research on to see if that is always fixed, or how often that changes.  I didn't know their's differed that much from the global exchange rate to begin with.

    In any event, the invoice is paid and the records will be on our way soon!  Thanks guys!

    EDIT:  If you guys feel like chipping in another dollar or two each, that'd be appreciated but you don't have to.  I calculated everybody's percentages based off of the exchange rate given via Google for what the prices were, rather than Paypal's exchange rate.  So i covered the extra $15 we owed.  It's not breaking the bank, but after all the time it took coordinating this and then having to pay more, it's like "....really?"  lol.  The universe is having a laugh right now for sure!
