Well I cancelled and got a refund  and they still sent me Deviations

Being the the honest guy I am, I have emailed them about it to see if they want it back.

Frankly, their store exclusives is where they are shining these days. They can run 500-2000 limited presses of a ton of different shit.

ROTMs go through a different lens given that is a 20k pressing and VMP hopes there is some broad appeal and exclusivity to it.

They dont do pre orders so you have to wait until its released to order, but juno.co.uk has this for about 22 and some change, their shipping to Canada is like 7 or 8 dollars, same as to US. Highly recommended site, never had issues with them.

I enjoyed Living Thing for what it was, but the two records after are very forgettable and can often be had for cheap.

I'm also on the side that would of been more inclined to pick up the orange is the b-side was an actual album track or true b-side. The instrumentation in Everything Now doesn't intrigue me as a separate track.

That being said, to each their own but I can see why this doesn't sell fast.

Buying a single of an album track with an instrumental for a b-side makes no goddamn sense to me.

Grabbed Prick, Lost Highway (color; glad I waited out on the MOV pressing), Broken and The Fragile

20% code could only be applied to the first two so will save it as it lasts for a year and I'm not sure what else will be available given the surprises that have shown up. Also, to repeat sub$16 USD 7+LPs shipped to Canada = Canuckle VERY impressed.

Holy crap, 7+ LPs shipped to Canada for under $16 USD? Merci, Mr. Reznor!

It can be found pretty easily around the web and on torrent sites. Personally, I'd rather not pay more for a DVD that will sit in a sleeve for all eternity.

These guys keep getting better and Reflektor is an incredible album y'all sleep. I'll check out the single later, not interested in the 12" if it's just the single + instrumental though.

It's what non-members or members who are not signed in see. It's normal. And 100% @downisthenewup87

VMP was always going to face an uphill battle for release unique records given the vinyl resurgence, which is why they have moved away from describing their albums as 'essential'. The best albums out there are getting reissued or repressed by the bands and labels themselves. VMP tries to find some of those less known but loved albums to press, so they won't always be everyone's cup of tea (e.g., Panda Bear, Main Source, Nina Simone - still the best three month run from them in terms of small classics and quality, IMO).

Not everyone can afford a club to send them albums they may not like, and some don't see the value in paying for albums they may not like; that's completely fine and very understandable. Just don't jump down people's throats who enjoy the curation. If you go to a restaurant and order the prix fixe menu, do you then ask for substitions because they aren't serving your favorite steak? No. You pay for a service to curate something great for you. So far, VMP has done a very admirable job.

    A. Their pressing's sound quality is almost always top notch as is the packaging.  There are numerous instances of their version sounding better than the readily available one.  See Weezer and the Fugees.

    B. Their taste in music is vaired and top rate.  Have there been some questionable new release picks over the years?  Sure.  But in the past 1 1/2 years there have only been 3 or so AotM that I straight up don't like.

    C) Fiona and Gorillaz are not the only example of them pressing something out of print.  See The Books and Menomena (two of my favorite indie albums of the 00's), Wells Fargo amd Beck (though that did see a black varient released at the same time).

    D.  They do 5 or so exclusive pressings every month.  Most of which quickly increase in value.  You are given the choice to swap for some of these if you dont like the AotM.

All this bitching is fucking ridiculous.  I let my membership lapse here and there when finances are tight, but Vinyl Me Please is about as well run of a small business as I can think of.  If it's not for you, thats fine.  But if your collection isnt 500+ albums deep and you're complaining about their choice in music chances are your have narrow and/or shitty taste...  And for the record, I swapped Morby for Beck, was ecstatic when Demon Days was announced and have no fucking trouble tracking down new music to listen to on my own.

I think they meant they are on a month-to-month sub which means no swaps.

Man if you just joined VMP to get re-releases of albums that everyone knows are great, I think you're going to be disappointed. The big draw for me was the discovery. It makes me feel like a kid again to discover a new artist, learn about their process, their story etc...

I actually think I'd leave VMP if they only released albums that were massive hits in their day.

I expect The Chills to go on sale eventually as it has been there forever. Eddie Gale all the way if you like it (and don't mind have 1-2 songs a side).
