Another crazy good release. On paper this mix of styles wouldn't necessarily appeal to me, but one listen convinced me to pick it up. Just listen.

I'm really into this Scarcity record, I love all the unusual patterns and the production sounds huge.

Massive fan of this record and love the textures and sounds all across it. The weird-ass tunings and chords reverberate so deeply in my SOUL man. One of the best things out this year IMO

bjorn got a reaction from sneakyimp in i'd like to press vinyl, what pressing companies provide good product?
I would say the hate against Pirates is overblown. I think the main issue was with many of their splatter/haze/etc. records having a grainy residue. Some of their records are a bit noisy, and they used to sometimes have a low level whooshing sound (this might have been a DMM issue... but I haven't noticed this in years). But honestly, the majority of what they put out sounds quite good. Maybe most importantly, I have personally never experienced an off-center pressing from them, and that is the defect that I find to be the most infuriating and detrimental to the sound of the record. Compared to the garbage quality I've seen from places like United, I'd rather take something from Pirates/GZ any day.

Saw em in Birmingham last night. They fukn laid waste to the crowd by finishing the show w 15 minute Silverfuck that was all you could ever want out of that song. My 1st SF at my10th show. Also my 1st Quiet.
Edit to be on topic. Anyone willing to part with the last boot?

Listening to mine now. Yellow marble variant is really just straight yellow in my case, but it sounds good. I'm not completely through yet, but this record is a beast.

I'm right there with ya on this as well. Age-wise and still having all the stuff from younger days.

bjorn reacted to jhulud in I need some advice on my record collection
Record collecting can be and is a pain in the ass hobby depending on what type of person you are.
If you're in it for the love of the music and the artists/bands and don't care for condition of jackets and sleeves (as long as not completely trashed & wrecked), you'll be happy to listen to the record itself given that it's clean and plays.
If you're an OCD completist asshole...like I tend to be with certain bands & artists...then you can and will be on a long road of heartbreak & disappointment and questioning your role in the hobby and the potential loss of "fun".
I can understand & relate to the OP's post and all subsequent responses and replies. The older we get, priorities in life shift and change, but it's all matter of being able to make time (and money) for the things that bring you some sort of respite and enjoyment. If you feel that record collecting is now having a negative effect on your self and life...then you may want to reassess things and even consider getting help. And I don't mean that as an insult. It's a legitimate thing to consider. I have a friend who ran a label and worked at a record store and was a serious collector. He reached a point where he was stressing out majorly over getting all variants of his favorite bands' releases and being a completist as much as possible. It became a compulsion. He recognized this was causing a problem in his life so he sought professional help. He eventually came to grips with things and sold off a chunk of his collection and learned to manage the stress of it all. He's in a much better place now and is happier.

Here are some cool-looking Gorguts reissues. I guess Season of Mist will eventually put these up for the US.

I remember this Machina version popping up on Amazon last year. I think it was scheduled for this Spring or something like that, so maybe it just got pushed forward? Either way, it looks pretty fishy.

bjorn got a reaction from faaip de oiad in Does anyone else have a dust/debris accumulation issue on their player?
Not to be rude, but it does sound like there may be excessive dust floating around in your room. I used a vacuum RCM similar to the VPI model for a few years, but after moving to Europe I've had to go without, and I honestly don't notice a significant difference. I don't get much dirt built-up, if at all on my stylus, and I only brush it after every 5-10 sides I play. RCM's are definitely nice to have, but if there's a lot of extra dust floating around they can only do so much. An air purifier might actually help, and it would cost much less than a VPI.

I totally agree. Not only that, I feel that this is a record that millions of people would enjoy immensely, but unless some kind of breakthrough happens, they'll probably never hear it.
