I look forward to reading this thread in a couple months and see if anyone's opinions changed once people learn how to actually use it.
The complaints I'm reading are all invalid, as people just haven't figured out how to use it yet.

That's what I do. I have 12"/LPs, 7", 10", Cassettes, Signed CDs and Samplers. It's great to catalog what you have. And you can sort it in many different ways.

I don't understand what sucks about viewing your collection on Discogs. People keep saying that, but what's wrong with it? There's 4 different formats for viewing your collection, including one that gives you your low, median, and high current value of your entire collection and all the separate albums.
If you don't want the messages about changes to your items, uncheck that option in the settings.
 
 

The same, I tried DF a long time ago and probably because I'd already uploaded my collection to discogs and was used to it and so found DF to be difficult to use.
 
My collection when I loaded it all onto Discogs was somewhere around 6500 Albums, it's somewhere around 8800 now and I have absolutely no problem browsing through it, in fact I used the app today on my phone to stop me buying something I already had which was no problem to find at all.
 
The other thing with Discogs is that I can download a csv file of my collection, wantlist, tradelist etc. etc and use them in a spreadsheet how ever I want. I know you can bulk upload things for sale so you might be able to do the same with a csv file of your collection from google docs if the columns are ordered correctly.
 
Much like mobile phones or a lot of computer software I think its probably a case of whatever you used first is going to be what you are used to and anything else is just wrong.
 
 

What does everyone mean by this? Like just finding a random release? You can search your collection, sort it by size, year you put it in your collection, basically everything. I even asked the software guys a while back if they could let you sort by playback speed and they said it's on their list actually.

I presume by "lazy load" you're talking about scrolling to the bottom and will automatically load more results?  If so, that would be great, I hate pages.

Thanks for the nice feedback! Amazon caps the number of results and paginates them but one option I've thought about was doing a lazy load for more results rather than having pages.

Also. Digging further into the whole "Verified Fan" nonsense to be able to get the best tix for her shows...you're expected to essentially drop buku $$$ on merch and music to better your chances. So spend spend spend...and prove you're a #1 Fan. So scummy deal.

Tossing my 2 cents in. I feel like we should be able to do the PO Soon threads because it ideally sparks conversation about not only the impending vinyl release but also the music.

Been looking at that one too, All i know is that the Mondo release it's fantastic and i love mine.

But if it doesn't skip then it's already a plus for me. I'd rather have a record that plays perfectly on a picture disc than a 180gram that skips.

Here's a few guidelines suggestions I've thought of for those that wish to partake.

1) Include a j-card
We all have tapes so it shouldn't be too hard to just trace another j-card and make your own design. It makes it feel more special than just writing on the shitty j-card that comes with blanks.

2) Include a tracklist
This obviously helps identify what's on it in case the person wishes to look the song/band up.

3) Include a label name / release number
If you had a label, what would it be called? Is this your 1st release or your 69th? Get creative with it.

4) Have a nice transition between songs
While we all have our favorite songs, slapping them in random order can make it hard to listen to. Try to set up a nice flow between tracks.

If anyone has more guidelines suggestions, let me know and I'll add to the list!

I'm so into this idea. I have 40+ blanks of various lengths and color variations and an obsession for sentimental gifts SO this is such a good idea 

Let's get this ball rolling. If you're looking for blanks, a great place to check is Goodwill. Everyone I've ever bought came from there. All of them still sealed. I actually have four of them sitting in my tape holder right now that are still in the package.

I hope not the only one that does this but sometimes when I'm bored I take records that I would press if I had the resources and make my own "mockups" for them just for fun. Thought it could turn into a fun thread for all you photoshop "savvy" folks!

Oddly enough I'm most excited about the Coolio single because that was the first "real" piece of music I ever owned as a child... Bumping it on a fisher price tape player. 
 
The old sony wm-f8 Plays but doesn't rewind or fast forward. Not sure how to fix that or if bringing it to a shop to fix is worth it but I paid 50¢ so I can't complain
