  1. It also sucks when it's been like 3 days since the show premiered, you've been too busy to watch more than 3 episodes, and your iPhone keeps sending you news article alerts about "Creators of Stranger Things discuss the heart-breaking twist of Season 2" and "How this scene in the first season of Stranger Things predicted the chilling finale of Season 2". It's been less than a week! Let me be with the references to twists and finales!
  2. So, they'll "reject" your offer but, as a hack, they'll send you a counter offer by accepting your offer and just adding to the shipping total? If I'm reading it right, that is 100% bonkers. You aren't bound to follow through on that and Discogs support will gladly help you avoid negative feedback and cancel the order.
  3. Sellers are required to have clear shipping prices in their Shipping Information section, so you can know the cost BEFORE you place an order or make an offer. If they don't provide prices or it's vague like "I charge USPS rates", they're in the wrong and, if you're so inclined, you can share their account with Discogs support and they'll be asked to update their terms.
  4. I bought 5-6 records in one transaction from No Sleep like 2-3 years ago. One of them skipped at several different spots and I couldn't get it to play through despite adjusting tracking on two different turntables, etc. so I emailed them to ask about a return/replacment and they just never replied. The record was only like $7 so I was just like "OK. I'll just never buy anything from this label again."
  5. I always thought Discogs was clear about being an academic-like database project rather than a fun, loose "here's my collection" tool. I haven't combed too far into their Help or About pages but maybe they need to do a better job of explaining their mission and why they have rules, since it seems like a fair amount of people are frustrated that the rules are getting in their way.
  6. He sounds like he's taking a page from L. Ron Hubbard's playbook and creating an empire built around pseudo-science and man's incessant need for there to be more to existence (and their willingness to pay money to confirm it). I don't see any overt religious angles, which is likely a 21st century update to the business model, but this feels very much like a way to make a ton of dough. When he builds that room that bends space and time and he tours the bodies of the 1948 aliens, I will take this all back.
  7. I wonder if it's a malicious bit of JavaScript in an ad getting served through the banners on the site?
  8. I think this summary from this Drowned in Sound review nails it: And the Spin review is less succinct and serious but very funny:
  9. I'm in the US but yeah I totally forgot about the 7", as the sticker on the record (weirdly) has like 20 words dedicated to the file types you can download and zero about the bonus single.
  10. I have to re-listen but, on first 'spin', this is less immediate than the debut record. The first one had quite a bit of separation in sound between tracks. This feels closer to the last Knife album. Of course, once I listen to it more I'll probably take back 90% of my first thoughts on it.
  11. Are they making us download and listen to this one in order to get the Black Album?
  12. I love Bullmoose's under the radar shipping. I just checked the order page on their site to see if mine shipped and it says it's already delivered.
  13. HOW DARE A NEW OPENING BAND LIKE NADA SURF DESECRATE THIS LEGENDARY SONG
  14. I bought it for like $9 during a random Urban Outfitters sale!
  15. For my own selfish peace of mind, I'd prefer to remain as ignorant as possible of the edgy political leanings of Brand New fans.
  16. Snagging the regular edition up once it hits Amazon. #Pay18dollarsNot30
  17. I saw Pedro with John Vanderslice at the Glass House in Pomona, CA (dear God it was 13 years ago, I just googled it, what happened with those 13 years of my life, lol) and he played a really, really subdued set. I almost wish it had featured more of his upbeat tracks. It was still memorable though, especially when he asked the audience if they had questions and people launched into a serious Q&A without hesitation. One guy asked "Do you believe the sacred texts are still relevant?" with a straight face and Bazan reciprocated with a sincere and thoughtful answer. Haha.
  18. I feel like a mysterious, announced CD is left-of-center enough to activate the RARE COMMODITY!!! lobe of the Brand New fan brain. I'm not sure if the actual record, even if it's a deluxe limited variant, will reach as high 'panic purchase' wise.
  19. I've been a pretty smug Brand New hater (outside of enjoying Devil and God when it came out) and Science Fiction won me over despite my best efforts.
  20. I just received my reissue copy today from Bullmoose and they didn't include a cassette. I ordered it early when the cassette was still part of the package, so that's a real bummer. Anyone who got a tape and is not interested in keeping it, hit me up with your asking price. Big thanks.
  21. I didn't order this and I haven't ordered from Milk before but hand-written notes are one of the cool perks of buying tapes from small labels. Almost all of them will include a note and a fistful of stickers, random download codes, candy, old baseball cards, etc. Very cool that Milk does it for their orders.
  22. I'm getting spam redirects on my iPhone. It's slightly different each time as far as what the message or spam says. It happens every so often and I've noticed it for a few weeks but it always stops right when I'm almost motivated to post about it.
  23. Think of it this way...paying that extra $25 will feed the owner and his cat, which is the only member of his family who didn't leave him immediately after he announced he was going to start a record store, for 2 days.
