I'm sure this type of experience is what the RSD founding fathers had in mind when this kicked this shindig off 10 years ago.

Happy to report that like last year I was able to get a good nights sleep and show up at my local store at around midday and still get the 3 records I was after. The only things that seemed to be sold out were the Bowie and Prince things so the folks queueing must be big into that here. Have a good day everyone :-)

That's awesome! Now just take bribes from the others in line for where to stash the high-demand records in various bins across the store

I'd normally listen to both sides but Space Age hasn't said a thing and the articles that are out there make it pretty clear the band thinks the royalties aren't being reported correctly (not that they signed a bad deal or whatever, but that the label owner is deliberately misreporting the numbers) so it's clear cut to me unless the label comes out and defends itself.

It's fine that it's on 180g black vinyl....but honestly, always pictured this release being on some sort of clear or icy translucent blue or even a lighter coke bottle green.

Andrew: This is the first black vinyl Record of the Month we’ve done since, what, Big Bill Broonzy 15 months ago. Why did we end up doing black on this release?
Cam: Fiona’s camp decided that since this is Tidal’s first release, they wanted to try to keep it as much as possible like it would have been if the vinyl came out in 1996. If they were doing the vinyl package in 1996, they would not have put it on color vinyl. They would have included a lyric book identical to what came with the cd. They wouldn’t have added bonus tracks or an additional disc or done alternate art work. It would have just been the album, on high quality black vinyl, and that’s it. So that’s what we went with. And I actually love the simplicity of it.
Andrew: We also ended up choosing 45RPM, right?
Cam: Yeah, on the first version of test pressing at 33RPM, the songs just didn’t pop like we or her team wanted them to. We agreed that we should go to 45RPM to get more musical info on the disc—which is what happens with a 45RPM master—and Tidal sounded a lot more dynamic at 45RPM.
Andrew: And before we go, since people will ask and insinuate, there are no current plans to do this reissue on the label’s side, right?
Cam: Correct. This reissue is coming out exclusively through Vinyl Me, Please.

And 45rpm as well. Lyric book? In a '96 LP? Stuff was super bare bones then.

not lucky, it's just a really good pressing.
There is a just a vocal minority complaining.
VMP has posted that they have had less than a 2% return/complaint rate which from what they say is better than any of their previous releases.
This record has just drawn out a lot of crosley fans that like to complain.

Also for those unaware the signature is pretty lame. On the untitled unmastered release the signature was a tiny squiggle.

Like, I'll admit that it took a while before benji clicked with me. But this is like ... near Wesley Willis level songwriting.  I'm hoping it's all just some prank and he snaps out of it. Or we find out he has some kind of mental disorder or something. Then it'll make sense .

...It's hard to believe this is by the same guy that made some of the most poetically beautiful music ive ever heard.

This thread prompted me to listen to all of that album... Kinda speechless at how little fucks is given by MK any more, even down to being bad Codeine "groovy bass jams" for 150+ minutes with so little variation and sooooo many callbacks as if this was the Captain America: Civil War chapter of SKM mixed with Magnetic Fields at his most alienated.

I came close to buying it anyway precisely because this album seems so unpopular right now and the shelf-life of the songs seem to be six months which makes this an amazing time capsule of 2016 going into 2017.

The one per customer limit seems to have helped things last a bit longer. The National exclusive has been in the store for weeks.

Usually after the initial store opening it dies down for a little bit.  With over 300 copies left it should still be around on Saturday.

I A/B'd my copies of DD. I think the new pressing slightly beats it. More robust bass, a touch louder. Don't get me wrong, the original was very good too. If you have an original, don't sweat not getting a new one. If you have a new one, be happy.

New album is dope. As someone pointed, he went into a different direction without losing his mojo. I'm glad the jazz/funk approach from TPaB didn't become a KL obligatory trademark, as one could have assumed. I've been listening to a lot of hip-hop and black music albums since TPaB, it's probably the genre which I most have listened to in the past two years. Listened to hundreds of different albums and artists and DAMN. is music and production-wise a standout album.
