conedust got a reaction from jmoy in Housing Picture Discs (with PVC Sleeves) within Polythene or Polypropylene Sleeves?
I understand why you wouldn't want to discard or cut up the PVC sleeves your picture discs came in, or risk trying to remove and transfer the stickers. Lots of collectors prefer to keep records in their original, "like new" condition.

But the evidence that storage in PVC sleeves can damage vinyl records, while anecdotal, seems too strong to ignore. I've had it happen myself.

Best solution I can think of would be to separate the sleeves & records for storage purposes. You'd have to come up with a good way to safely house the sleeveless vinyl afterward, so depending on the size of your collection, it could be quite a hassle. Maybe use generic die-cut 12" sleeves with something like a MoFi inner? You'd lose most of the look, but at least your vinyl would be well protected.

Too bad you can't easily get purpose-made "display sleeves" with a bigger hole cut out. Picture discs used to come in those occasionally, but I've never seen them for sale separately as generic blanks.

= My thoughts on KW in a nutshell. Love that First Yussef Kamaal LP, but mostly for the drumwork. Tunes & vibe are v. nice, but wouldn’t be anything special w/out Dayes. He elevates everything he touches. Ex: that fucking ridiculous Abbey Rd live jam on ‘Love Is the Message’ w/ Alfa Mist & Mansur em-effing Brown. You know from the first couple bars of unaccompanied drums exactly whose sticks you’re hearing and that you’re in for something great. Sad that the vinyl’s now so stupid spendy (a 1-sided 12”!), but there’s always youtube.

Damn that red label on black is so clean. Gonna wait on the Vinyl Me Please pressing but I might have to scoop that Rated R once my local store has it.

Hell yes! While typically a sucker for fancified junk bait, I prefer my Songs on classic black. Squares w/ nostalgia, and the (excellent) package design seems built around it. Opaque red would look great, too, but isn’t, so far as I know, a reissue option. Yet...

Two days after emailing DPD, I received an email from Aramex stating that my parcel cleared customs and should be delivered tomorrow.

    Fingers crossed.

I’m not sure. I haven’t tried contacting them yet, as I managed to resolve things stateside through FedEx and Amarex. Took several hours of telephone calls & internet sleuthing spread out over several days, though.

If I were you, I’d google for a US DPD office and/or see what help resources are available on their website. Has to be someone who can provide you with a more precise package location & status, or at least point you in the right direction.

Had my Bleep order come through US customs via Aramex, who then handed the package off to FedEx . But because my mailing address is a PO box, FedEx couldn't deliver. They kept leaving me messages, but when I called them back, they'd claim to have no record of any package for me (probably because it was a 2nd-party hand-off, which I didn't know at the time). This happened 3 times, and then my package was returned to Aramex for shipment back to the UK 😕

Finally figured all this out last night, and called Aramex in New York this morning, not with high hopes. The third rep I spoke with said it was a good thing I called, because my package hadn't shipped out yet, and that they'd try to redeliver! I'm not holding my breath, but it seems that there's at least a slim chance it'll actually arrive one of these days...

Whole thing is kind of ridiculous, though. Bleep sends the packages via DPD, who give them to Aramex, who give them to FedEx, and every company involved has their own tracking number. Meanwhile, I only have the original DPD number, which means nothing to either of the companies in my country.

    No, it's true.

I'm still interested in the soundtracks I genuinely love (recently picked up MOV's expanded Daughters of Darkness score), but I'm way past sick to death of endless, ugly, supposedly "collectible" peanut butter barf variants of every half-popular nerd niche title in the licensing rolodex. In shitty packaging that looks like a "prestige" issue of some lame indie comic! I mean, if you can't afford genuinely good art, why not settle for bad, lazy, Etsy-level "design", right? Plus super limited hand-poured purple and brown merge with mint green splatter wank wank wank...

Yaller nuts. This is exactly what the characters & their environment are supposed to look like, maybe the only piece of Turtles spin-off merch I've  seen get it right in recent years. Looks tough & gritty/urban, but still more-or-less kid-friendly. Also looks like a basically homemade 80s indie comic -- as it should. Love the roughness of Eastman's lines, traces of graf & anime/manga in the character designs, 70s children's book illustration in the background; love the noirish streetscape & looming skyline suggesting a seedy, trashy, crime-scarred Manhattan that doesn't really exist anymore. Good stuff, and the relative crudity of Eastman's style is a definite virtue in that regard, like you know there's ass about to get kicked. Far more appropriate and interesting than most of the characterless, soulless, blandly realistic "art" that typically graces these money-sink soundtrack reissues aimed at indiscriminate pop culture collectors . I mean, I'm not gonna buy a copy, because the music doesn't interest me, but the packing is fucking perfect.

Welp, John Golden apparently cut the lacquers for Suicide Invoice and Audit in Progress ("GOLDEN" stamp in the runouts of both). It looks like Dave Gardner cut Automatic Midnight, though (based on the "DG" in the runouts and the different etching hand overall).

RTI's characteristic matrix scheme is present on all 3, but I can't say for certain that they were pressed there.

I’ve bought multiple copies of things before when the second copy was a gift or part of a group buy with a board member. It may sound like a myth but, like, it happens man. I typically gift my brother Waxwork soundtracks for Christmas so I usually buy doubles then, too.

But then again, I do make him pay me double. And he has to buy it off me via Discogs.

This album sounds really fantastic, both production wise and the LP itself. Does 45RPM in general lead to less surface noise...? I don't understand how a label as small as Castle Face can put out nearly flawless sounding albums, yet the new Metallica repress I have is full of pops and hiss.
Awesome silkscreen, cool vinyl (pink smoke), and high-quality printed inner sleeves as well. Top-notch release all around.

It's not a single thoug. It's a vinyl . Some kind of vinyl are more expensive. For instance of Beatles. Think of like buying a house. Maybe someone alse would take it!
