  2. Pledge is flaky but whatevs. Do you get a download of EP1 in FLAC now that it's out?
  3. Finally! This is the only album of theirs I need on vinyl. If (hed)PE's debut was on vinyl my 1997 vinyl wishes would be complete.
  4. This was an easy decision for me... I missed Blonde by one day. Cherry Bomb was released as a legit Sony release for hhv.de, but only once and only 300 copies. I missed that one too, I was trying to save on shipping from Europe... dumb. https://www.hhv.de/shop/en/item/tyler-the-creator-cherry-bomb-sunshine-yellow-vinyl-edition-465831 I'm quite curious if this release has a noticeably different master than its digital counterpart (like Wolf, Goblin etc). Also curious if it really exists at all, I've never seen a photo of it. Likely the back cover would look significantly different than the bootleg/unofficial.
  5. Listen here's the pleasant part, you and I we fell apart. But for reals... this is disappointing. I have loved TJT's early work since I heard them on the split EP with Onelinedrawing.
  6. Yes, and re-recorded for the Size Matters sessions.
  7. I sincerely want this on vinyl. I own the japanese CD pressing too so I have a good copy of 'blacklight' & 'just like me'. It does seem the CD is very dynamically compressed, so a truer-to-studio master would be a treat.
  8. This thread reminded me I oughta sell my copies of ETR RBF to some rube. For display only. +1 on the Fish Store pressing being superior. I also realized a year or so ago that my copy of Progress is not superior to the CD in any way but resale value.
  9. Yeah def. Still have a soft-spot for "Old Enough" too. Then I found out who Big Wreck was and the magic was gone the first time I heard "Mistake", a song so good that Nickelback covers it a lot. I would love to hear a well-mastered pressing of the Pleasure and the Greed. It's a bit of a bloated album but, so many great songs- "Ladylike", "Knee Deep", "Undersold", "Broken Hands", and "Defined by What We Steal" are great songs.
  10. It's purely mastering differences for myself. I end up digitizing everything I listen to frequently. Once you hear a pop/rock/metal record closer to it's original studio recording mix... astounding. For many releases this is worth the price of entry. I've also found the imperfection of vinyl very annoying at times. But the mechanical nature of the sound reproduction is so endearing that you forgive it.
  11. It's not important if the mastering is done well for vinyl. Just get those cymbals un-smushed.
  12. Sweet, I've always wanted one.... in spite of the prices.
  13. Got my orange Congrats and blue NME. All looks beautiful. Unfortunately my "vinyl player" is in for service.
  14. To be honest. My copies had a slight warp, but nothing that affects play. That said the double-45rpm thing does sound incredible. And it seems like they got A&M's attention and that's why we get another version plus Congratulations I'm Sorry. I'll take it. No regrets. Furthermore SRC took a chance on pressing Far's records as well as Say Hello to Sunshine. Also Hum's Astronaut and Silverchair's first two albums were crazy expensive, so kudos for making that happen. And doing their diligence for remastering/remixing for vinyl, which in my eyes is the whole point of a vinyl release.
  15. the best Mudvayne album is Violence by Nothingface. Mislabeled mp3s of "Blue Skin" were how I got into NF
  16. I just bought one cuz I'm an audio snob. As you may recall the Enjoy the Ride pressing was 2 LP at 45rpm... but sourced from vanilla CD quality audio. In spite of their efforts it's not going to top having a better master source available. As you can see in the pic this is authorized by Sony Legacy and has a good possibility of better audio and master preparation (Sony Legacy releases have been top notch in the last few years, IMHO). http://fishmarket.reel-big-fish.com/product_p/mc007.htm
  17. Yeah I recall the HM vinyl wasn't a huge step up in sound compared to other releases. I have heard about fans making a dynamic mix of YZ from the multi-tracks. I looked at public postings...trail went cold. PM me in the right direction?
  18. Same here. I take issue when the only version of a recording is the blown out sounding loudasfck master. I love loud music, but I like some dramatic passages too. Even in the loudest of music, you should still have cymbals not drowned in guitars/vocals. NIN has made a less dynamic master that still sounds great. And I'm nearly certain even if the loud masters are given to the pressing plant, they will go through some sort of change just to make it work on vinyl. Also do keep in mind that Sr. Reznor may be giving a multi-track to whomever is mastering the vinyl edition. He didn't say 'yo i'ma drop the flac on the vinyl house and have them press this old crap'.
  19. yes, obviously. but the loudness war mastering is not this thing. it's more like car sales ad versus a movie. just imagine if every emotional line in a movie was delivered at the volume of "GET YOURSELF A 2017 KIA SORENTO TODAY!"
  20. Loudness does not equal bad necessarily. But more dynamic, i.e. kick from drums and the like does sound more gooder. I think loudness war music rubs people the wrong way who listen to entire albums in one sitting. Hearing a loudly mastered song is great for a few minutes at a time. Hearing a 45+minute album with little dynamic is grating, oftentimes boring. I've had more than a handful of albums sound dull on digital and rhythmic on their vinyl releases. That's the whole reason I like vinyl. Not into the packaging/color variants/display aspect. That said, I've given each of the remaster downloads a listen this last week or so. They do sound clearer (mostly the noise textures, buzzing, some drums, etc) and don't exhibit the typical dull sound I'd associate with loudness war material. Now going back to a CD or LP version, I find some production elements are noticeably less clear but overall the album is more exciting, builds to a crescendo, and sounds more like a live performance. tlDR; 'memba dynamics
  21. If a pressing of Houston: We Have a Drinking Problem comes to fruition, all will be forgiven. The other record would be nice too. Acrophobe is one of the best sounding LPs I own.
