  1. And by punk, do you mean punk punk or would hardcore qualify as well?
  2. I'm not a huge Shellac fan but I do love Big Black and Rapeman.
  3. Off the top of my head: 1. Patti Smith - Horses 2. Big Star - #1 Record 3. The Velvet Underground - S/T 4. Husker Du - Zen Arcade 5. Slade - Slayed 6. Bob Dylan - John Wesley Harding 7. 13th Floor Elevators - Easter Everywhere 8. Prince - Dirty Mind 9. The Replacements - Let it Be 10. David Bowie - Hunky Dory
  4. I wasn't dismissing the band at all. I thought they were great. I also think they're really the only factor that makes the records interesting. His vocal sameness gets a bit tiring.
  5. I call it as I see it. The guy owns the term.
  6. Ha! You're funny. I guess I hit a nerve. Didn't expect people, who aren't in the band, to get so testy over an opinion.
  7. Didn't know the two of you were friends. Nice of you to defend him. I still stand by what I said. I've seen 100s of bands, pretty good for a twelve year old, and his performance ranks as one of the worst. Act or not, it came across as forced. He didn't/couldn't pull it off.
  8. I saw Deafheaven iin NYC the other night and hated George Clarke. He's such a poseur---trying so hard to make us believe he's the coolest guy in the room. It came across as forced and phony. He's one of the worst frontmen I have ever seen. I feel sorry for his bandmates. I really like the new record and was looking forward to the show but after three songs, I lost interest. I also have a problem with his vocals. Everything that comes out of his mouth sounds the same.

  11. Peter Luger is overrated. If you want a good steak there are many better places including St. Anselm in Williamsburg and Keens in Manhattan. Coney Island might disappoint you in December since everything is closed. If you can't get into Book of Mormon, I recommend Hand of God.
  12. Email Matador---they're replacing my jacket and the one sleeve that was damaged.
  13. Not crazy at all due to its scarcity and possible historical mark as a protopunk band. Just because you never heard of the band doesn't mean it's a "nobody band." I'm sure that garage/psych collectors are very familiar with The Deep Six. My stepfather was in one of those bands that you refer to as a "nobody band" and I was surprised to find out how many people knew of the band, especially since they came from a small Northern California town, and wanted their 7" The last time I saw one of the 7"s sell on eBay, it went for $870. That being said---I don't condone cyber panhandling in any form. Put that shit on Paypal and make payments.
  14. In my opinion---top ten SY records 1. Daydream Nation 2. Sister 3. EVOL 4. Goo 5. Dirty 6. Murray Street 7. Bad Moon Rising 8. S/T 9. Washing Machine 10. A Thousand Leaves I love this band. It's also the one that I've seen the most---sixteen or seventeen times---every tour since Sister, multiple times on Goo and a few odd one off shows like a Johnny Ramone benefit, opening for the Stooges and This is Not a Festival. Also caught their last American show. Sorry, I'm rambling. For those unfamiliar with the band, I would start with Dirty or Goo. I think those are good entry points.
  15. Hmmm...all I need is Field Songs so I guess I'm hoping for individual releases.
  16. Going to GYBE tonight. I hope there are no dancing, backpack wearing fucks to ruin my fun. Now, you kids get off my fucking lawn!
  17. Even worse---dancing people wearing backpacks. Leave you fucking backpack at home!
