Finally got around to listening to this record today and it’s fucking great.

anchorclose reacted to Oblivions in PO (03.16. 11AM EST): Saves the Day - In Reverie (2nd press) (PGR004)
My apologies in regards to questioning the validity of their feelings. I get that it’s personal to Chris and people who resonate with his lyrics and expression (and that people like all their albums). I also apologize that I’m taking a more casual view on the band as someone who loved the first 4 records and didn’t join them for the rest of their artistic journey. I get that there are a lot of people who still love everything they do.
My comment intended to be about the “angry” sound of the music that was introduced on that record and how Sound the Alarm, in general, feels like it’d come in a band’s career before they released their slower, indie pop “mature” record (I feel like it sounds like it’d also come before SWYA). For me, Sound the Alarm and the later records remind me of bands that aren’t as good as Saves the Day and blend in to the crowd more than what they had been doing previously. For me, TBC and SWYA and IR feel like sharper, more focused, more creative albums and it’s interesting that the band actually got angrier (at times) and less focused (IMO) as they went instead of getting slower and more boring (and following the In Reverie path) as many bands do.

It's OK to let jokes that are clearly jokes slide.

I mean, besides Through Being Cool, the greatest pop-punk record of all time. Psh.

Dude, hell yes! Those are some of my favorite DLD songs. I played this on repeat back in the day!

How many "OG" fans are in here that remembers the music that put DLD on that map that would also like to see that on vinyl?
Yes, I know they have other great releases too, but I'm trying to gauge interest on starting from the bottom up

Same.
I was fortunate enough to see them live back in 2005, pretty sure it was with Anberlin, Midtown and The Juliana Theory. "Sorry" and "The Distance" are some jams that get played on the regular!

Haven't been this pumped about a release in a very long time. Hell yes!
Also, Number One Fan's Compromises is the most underrated record from this era in my opinion. I listened to it again a few weeks ago and it's still great. I would legit help fund this record getting pressed.

All test presses are sitting on shelves gathering dust

anchorclose reacted to Buffbloom in Brand New - Daisy (Ltd / Blue vinyl)
Well, Science Fiction came out in 2017 so by the time Brand New decides to release a new album it'll be around 2025 and by then people might forget they got cancelled. Especially now that cancel culture is sort of being cancelled.

Sunsets and Car Crashes is in the works.

anchorclose reacted to dantheriver in PO Now - Tigers Jaw - I Won't Care How You Remember Me (Out in 2021)
S/T and Two Worlds are miles ahead of the rest of the discography. The post-Adam stuff should probably not even be called Tigers Jaw but I can still get some joy out of it.

anchorclose reacted to dreamover in Dashboard Confessional -The places...
I traded my OG copy probably about 8 years ago because I heard there was a reissue coming. But the reissue fell through. No regrets. Doubt I'd have played it much since then anyway. Might pick up Places if the price is reasonable, but I honestly don't know how much I'll spin it. Moon Is Down is really the only Chris record I revisit these days.

I’m gonna order 10+ copies “for the board” just so that 9+ casuals miss out. I’ll then never actually sell them so that I’m not a filthy flipper.

I was at that show in Bloomington too! They had two complete drum sets on stage. One of my favorite shows ever!

anchorclose reacted to corey. in New Bright Eyes Album 2020
I saw them in 2005 as well in Bloomington, IN. It was post the i'm wide awake tour I think, because it was a wide mix of songs dating back to letting off the happiness and a couple new songs that would later be on Cassadaga. It was actually one of the best concerts I've been to. They had like 13 people on stage, harp and all.
Conor was shit faced and I was a 14 year old in the 4th row losing my mind. (I originally had balcony seats and the venue let me swap mine to sit next to a friend who was buying their ticket and hooked it up)
