Shinji
Just got this record from Dave's Records in Chicago, and it's great. One thing that seemed shitty to me was that the store only had copies partially sealed, since I asked if I could get a sealed copy when he handed me one that wasn't, meaning they opened to check the color of the records, probably to sell off the red copies on the internet. Hopefully that wasn't the case and instead they were helping customers out, but since they gouge on prices over there, it wouldn't surprise me. mcpherson123
I've actually gotten some pretty good prices at Dave's.
Shinji
I've actually gotten some pretty good prices at Dave's. Really? The last two times I was there, everything that he had there was priced $5 or $6 more than I have seen it at Reckless, maybe it just depends. I bought Clarity by Jimmy Eat World on impulse and it ended up being $9 more than on SRC. His selection is awesome, though.
mcpherson123
Hmmm. Its been a while since I've been there. Maybe he's gone up. It is a generally expensive neighborhood after all.
spilled milk
Dave's prices are always super dumb
Shinji
Yeah, I haven't kept myself updated on this release that much, but it was $30 plus tax there.
ChardeeMacDennis
Well if anyone can get an extra Horn the Unicorn, please do. I don't care what color/pressing.....would just like to listen to it. I got you Ben! stl_ben

mcpherson123
Everything I've gotten there has been pretty much standard price. They had a shitload of copies of ISIS - Celestial in 2010 and he only charged me about 22 plus tax which was great because that press and all presses were out of print at the time and there were a bunch on the shelf behind the counter. I bought a Skull Defekts record for about 20 plus tax which was standard. I've seen a few other records there that I wanted for prices that were more than fair but I simply refrained from over splurging. Maybe the more in demand stuff gets priced up more than the slightly more obscure stuff that I was looking at.

just a normal guy kevin
If I went into a record store, and they tried to give me a partially opened LP that was the collateral damage of a hunt for a "rarer" variant, I would do a quick spin, grab my hat and jacket off the rack, and whistle my way out of there forever. natenomm
Shinji
Yeah, I still really wanted the record though. I should have worn a hat and a jacket, dammit.

jaxvinyl
First one that came to mind when I read bake's post. Nicely done.
34rpm
Listened to this album once and it seems really average. On par with Sleeper, not Slaughterhouse. bigbruise
just a normal guy kevin
I don't like Ty's vocals or melodies on his noisy rock out albums, so I've enjoyed Manipulator way way more.
34rpm
It's a pretty bland collection of songs. The arrangements are yawn worthy. There's nothing exciting about this album. aju2streets and bigbruise

Parker
Does anyone have any experience dealing with Drag City on the costumer service end of things? I got word that my record shipped on August 20th and still haven't received it. I've emailed them twice and have heard nothing. Kinda at a loss on what to do next, here. I'm a little stunned they haven't gotten back to me. I mean, come on. That's beyond shitty.
just a normal guy kevin
When did you email them? How long before you sent a second email? Do they have a number you can call?
just a normal guy kevin
You can also tweet at them or post on their Facebook. Sometimes a kind public inquiry can yield a much better response than an email.
