Blaine
I'll buy this, but I'm not downloading from iTunes and then buying it on vinyl later. I'm sure it will be available to stream on Spotify upon digital release, and that will suffice until the record drops.
sillylittleparts
I'm on the hunt for some of the earlier Ryan Adams singles. Any suggestions on where to buy them besides discogs and eBay?
timsimmons
Like California, rescue Blues and Now That I'm gone? Pretty much only those places.
sillylittleparts
I'm looking for No Shadow, Vampires, Jacksonville, and Do You Laugh When You Lie.
timsimmons
You can buy the UK versions on colored wax. Its a bit more expensive. But probably what you'd be paying for original US pressings on ebay or Discogs. http://ryanadams.firebrandstores.com/products.php?storeid=802&cat=4258&pg=

dreamover
This leaked Does it really count as a leak if it happens on the release day? (It's September 21 in Australia and available on AUS iTunes now.)
backpackoat
Love this. Does anyone know what the lyrics were changed to on the Style chorus? I can't figure them out.
Le Gogh
Been listening to 1989 all morning. All I can say is, it's great! And I'm not exactly a Taylor Swift fan...

mr. sincere
His Welcome to NY cover sounds like a Born In The USA outtake. So great.
Sidney Crosley
I dig this. It's not perfect, but I like that it's both different enough from the original album, while still pretty faithful, and very much sounds like a Ryan Adams album. I think the biggest two misfires on the album are Blank Space and Shake It Off - but in a lot of ways I think the pressure was highest to do something interesting with the two biggest singles. Blank Space, when stripped of almost everything, is revealed to be a pretty shallow and boring song. I wanted to like the version of Shake It Off, but all I could think of was this cheesy Canadian 80s version of Wild Horses by Gino Vanelli (not sure anyone else will know what the hell I'm talking about, but Google it, and you'll see the comparisons). As far as a full-album cover, I would see this as a success. Not a novelty or a joke, and definitely enough heart and effort to be taken seriously. Le Gogh
His Welcome to NY cover sounds like a Born In The USA outtake. So great. My thoughts exactly! As soon as I heard that first Verse I thought of Springsteen. And actually "All You Had To Do Was Stay" sort of reminds me of his 80's work as well. gmoney
Call me overly sensitive if you want, but this album is a little devastating. Out of the Woods is when the feels kick in. Really like it. bossdj26

Really like it. Out of the Woods legitimately feels like the first time I've heard that song. Great stuff! Style was also very well done. agaetisbyrjun
Ryan was interviewed on Zane Lowe [Taylor calls in] and announced his new album is done. Its a double album (21 songs) releasing in 2 parts (so it's easier to digest) and will be "more fragile" than Love is HellStream the interview here sunkilmoonfan, Blaine and aju2streets

Blaine
Awesome news on the new double album. As for 1989, I like it. It's exactly what I expected it to be. Ryan Adams arrangements, production, and voice elevate the songs to an enjoyable listen for me. There are still some very empty lyrics, but I didn't expect that to change, and I'm okay with that. Ryan Adams is an artist I can listen to as background music, and appreciate his vocal delivery as another instrument, negating the lyrical affect to a certain degree. I enjoy his songwriting, but being a covers album I'm not analyzing the lyrics like I would one of his own projects. I'll be picking up the record in November. Sidney Crosley
Father John Misty pays tribute to the classic Ryan Adams album 1989 (in the style of the Velvet Underground): https://soundcloud.com/fatherjohnmisty/blank-space https://soundcloud.com/fatherjohnmisty/welcome-to-new-york Completely hilarious, but kind of incredible.
