Do you use some sort of EQ?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so this is more out of curiosity than anything else.

I often see people posting on here that they've bought records and found them "too muddy" or whatever, and I'm wondering if you guys actually use some form of EQ at the least. Or is this a "faux pas" to some people - should you be listening with a flat EQ?

Personally if I buy a record that is lacking in clarity then I see no issue with tweaking the EQ.

I use the 'source direct'-mode on my amp to bypass as many circuits and get as much of a natural or 'intended' sound as possible. My whole set up has a quite unobtrusive bass response though and when I'm in the mood for a little more low end punch I tweak the bass a little bit. But that's about it.

Pretty much this. I'll crank the bass dial if I really want to make some shit shake, but 9 times out of ten it's Source Direct.
