Le Gogh
Ok, so this is more out of curiosity than anything else. I often see people posting on here that they've bought records and found them "too muddy" or whatever, and I'm wondering if you guys actually use some form of EQ at the least. Or is this a "faux pas" to some people - should you be listening with a flat EQ? Personally if I buy a record that is lacking in clarity then I see no issue with tweaking the EQ. Eliminator Jr.
I use the 'source direct'-mode on my amp to bypass as many circuits and get as much of a natural or 'intended' sound as possible. My whole set up has a quite unobtrusive bass response though and when I'm in the mood for a little more low end punch I tweak the bass a little bit. But that's about it. Guest
My amp does not even have to option to change any sort of EQ.

I'll crank the bass dial if I really want to make some shit shake, but 9 times out of ten it's Source Direct.
Dominic_
I use an EQ to compensate for my amp/preamp not being very good. Not ideal but it does the job until I can get some more money.
Tardcore
Source Direct 4 Life. It might be fun to crank up the bass once in a while, but if a record doesn't sound good, fiddling with the EQ isn't likely to fix it.
slinch
The best EQ you can use (and actually should use, though few people do) is speaker placement and acoustic room treatment.

allenh
My stereo has a power button, mute, mono, input select, volume, and a bunch of tubes. Some of us aren't that extravagant. Mute and mono switches unbelievable, In fact the power button's a bit much I never turn mine off

MikeSantor
Yes, seeing as my TT is hooked up through a pioneer mixer. But my set up dosn't cater to audiophiles unfortunatly. One day i will have the space for a second setup that is more geared towards SQ.....

bjorn
EQ should be something to just forget about, but sadly there are enough crappy sounding records that I wish I could tweak just a bit. I still don't really touch that tone knob though.
